First post in this forum for me.I own/have owned a few B&O products.
Bought a Beogram 9500 this wednesday. I have only one issue with it and I hope you can help me sort out what it is.
The sound is really bad(distorted) when i start playing records. But if I disconnect and reconnect/wiggle the DIN7 it gets perfect until I move the stylus or pause/stop playing and start playing again. I have tried it with two systems(becenter 8000/2100) and get the same issue.
May it be a issue with the cartrige/stylus? Can it play music perfect after wiggleing the cable? Can it be a grounding issue? Cant find a separate grounding connection on the beocenter/beogram.
I guess it can be a cable/connector issue but then it shouldn't get bad after just moving the stylus?
I noticed that the pressure of the stylus is set to 1,5 gram and in the manual it says that the correct pressure is supposed to be 1,0 gram. How do I change the setting? It really seems fragile. Nervous to break expensive parts.
Really appreciating any help..
Actually just found out what the issue is. I looked really closely and saw that the tonearm or I guess thats what it's called does get stuck when its almost i the right place after lowering it. If you tap gently on the player it hops in to place. How do I resolve this issue? Can I use some sort of lubrication?
Probably the suspension in the MMC2 cartridge. It will need to be refurbished.
Regards Graham
It seems like it's getting better and better. The previous owner haven't used it for years so I guess it just needs to be used more frequently. Think I made a good purchase anyway. Becenter 8000 + Beogram 9500 for just 3000 SEK(300 Euro)
Hi,
I think you might have a few issues, try cleaning the din connector with isopropanol for a start,
If you want your MMC2 looked at/repaired you can send it over to me,

When repairing the MMC2 if the diamond is in good condition I recommend suspension only repair currently £120.

Interesting - this type of tangential deck uses a different mechanism to drive the arm - the older decks used a screw drive, a lovely bit of engineering! The last of the decks used a cable drive and utilised the same motor as was used to open the draw of the Beocord 5500! It worked rather well! I do wonder if the cord has become kinked due to long term resting and wonder if it will in fact gradually improve the more it is used. The issue with the DIN plug is clearly a cleaning and checking connection job and I wonder if the moving of the cable was just enough to jog the wire! If the sound is fine once past the initial landing, the MMC2 could be OK.
