Apart from the dial cord seemingly be broken my recently acquired BM2000, when delivering nice sounds through my S-45's, turns out to get very hot (heatsinks). Is that normal/acceptable?

No!
It needs repairs to the output amplifiers.
Replace the idle current trimmers and readjust to factory specs.
Do one channel at a time, begin with the channel with the currently highest idle current.
Don't use it until repaired.

I happened to have a donor BM2000, of which I replaced the amp IC's long ago, whereas I activated this receiver only a couple of times.

Is it possible to swop the amplifier board with the heatsink attached as a whole with the unit from the problem BM.

Kind regards

k

That would be over-complicated!
Just replace the trimmers and readjust them.
The trimmers on the other board will most likely also need replacing - if not now then very soon.

After being half a year off "forum air" and away from BEO..'s I owe you a feedback on the above  problem.

I followed Dillon's advice and replaced the trimmers, set at the same value as the malfunctioning ones: result : no heating anymore and a nice clean sound from the speakers.

Itis now time to turn to my Beocord 1200 and Beogram1800 ( ref my other threads)

Thanks a lot

Aad
