Hello all,

I was wondering if it is possible with a masterlink setup, to switch on an audio source from the main room in all link rooms with only one command on the Beo4 remote?

Not by design, but you may be able to rig something up with IR repeaters of some sort. (Lots of potential for confusion with other IR commands though!)

However, I think that you can turn 'off' the whole system with a long press on the Beo4's power off (red) button.

Yes ... except “off” is as always “standby”

I think with a ml or bl gateway you can create such a setup with macro program and assign it to a control command in the BEO 4.

Hi Beolab 1,

The best solution here is probably to rethink how you use each room on the Masterlink network.  Masterlink is effectively a "single zone" system, with separate control in each room, hence it is rather limited compared to newer "multi zone" systems like Sonos.

If you have a group of rooms that you usually use together as a single space (eg. an open plan area for parties) then you may want to consider running the speakers in these rooms via Powerlink from a single, centrally located Beolink Active, giving you control of the whole space as a single area.

Another option is to look at feeding the speakers via a Sonos network, with the B&O music system as an input to one of the Sonos players.  This will effectively "update" your network to make it multi-zone, with easy control of all rooms from anywhere in the house via the Sonos app.

If you are able to upload a sketch of the house layout, showing where your speakers are located and indicating how you intend to use the rooms please, it should be possible to give a better idea of the options available.

Please feel free to email the sketch to me at my sponsor link below if you would rather not post this onto an open forum and I will be happy to help.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Agree with Stefan. If you have an ml/blgw create a macro that send a JOIN command to all linkrooms triggered by a Beo4 command in LIGHT or CONTROL mode, for example CONTROL - PLAY ( long press?). Program this macro to be activated from every linkroom - now you can activate a source from any room and activate all link stations from whatever link/mainroom you are. And you can change channels/tracks, play/pause from any room. You can change volume level using the Beolink(2) app.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I think I will stick to my old style masterlink system. Integrating an entire gateway system seems a bit much for just one extra Beo4 command. I know masterlink quite well and with steve’s great range of cables and plugs, I managed to add and expand the system which now works perfectly. Nevertheless I’m grateful for the speedy course in gateway connection by you all!
