Hello All,

I am little new so wants some suggestion regarding a pre amplifer which must good match with Beolab 8000 speakers, as specification nowhere mention the impedance of the power amp in beolab 8000 so how can any one match any pre amp to these active speakers. Anyone in the forum who is using preamp with these speakers ? Kindly give your valuable inputs. I am planning to buy any good pre amp from marantz or rotel.

What about tube preamps combination with these speakers ?

Thanks in advance, waiting for your valuable inputs.

They will all work fine, use pre-outs and trigger output with special cables (see the link in my signature for further details).

You don't need trigger outputs in BL8000. They have RCA-connectors.

Depending on how you will use these it is much better to use triggers - in a surround setup they will turn on and off with a clicking noise if there is no signal on their channel / when signal is back ...

This will make "Leo go wild" Big Smile

For Stereo RCA might work fine (speakers stay on for a few (2?/3?) minutes after music system into stand by mode).

Thanks, i am not talking about AV receiver, i am making it 2 channel stereo system so i am talking about dedicated 2ch pre amplifier. any one is using these speaker with dedicated 2ch pre amp ?

I think tube amp can do the better job.

AV receiver, pre-amplifier... Doesn't matter, they should all work. If you like the "tube" sound then go ahead and get a preamp with a tube stage, just don't go too crazy getting some high end audiophile preamp, it's not necessary. Sure, you could plug a McIntosh C2500 tube amp into BL8000s but ehh, the pre would be overkill for those speakers. At the end of the day however, the output will just be RCA pre-outs which the Beolab 8000s will happily accept.

As mentioned above, in most cases all you need to do is plug into the RCA input jacks on the BL8000 (make sure the switch is set properly) and they will conveniently "self-detect" the audio source powering them on "green" and within a few moments after the music stops off "red - standby".

Well remember the BL8000s are powered speakers so you can't use an amplifier that provides power, however I think you mean a pre-amp with tubes, and that will work just fine.

That would depend on the tube preamp. Modern ones will handle the input impedance of a solid state amp well, old ones not so much. The classic Dynaco PAS 2 and 3, for example, expect to see the extremely high input impedance of a tube amp like the ST70 or such, and have severe bass rolloff with the lower impedance of a solid state amp, so don't use a vintage preamp. Modern tube preamps, such as my not so modern Super PAS 3i (a modification of the original PAS 3 circuitry by Audio by Van Alstine), worked fine with solid state amps.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Hi Kallasar,

Forgive my ignorance in these matters, but this is my question:

I'd like to connect my Beosound 9000 CD player to a vintage Technics SA-700 amplifier (100 watts per channel), and then to my Beousound 8000 speakers.

Is this going to work, are they compatible?

What should I research exactly for compatibility?

Would this be a "plug & play" option?

Thank you in advance for any lead you can provide me with!

Cheers, Martin

Hi Ralf,

This is my question: I'd like to ad to my BeoSound 9000 CD player a vintage Technics stereo reciever/amp and the connect my BeoSound 8000 speakers to the Technics amp.

Is this possible, a "plug and play" option?

Thank you in advance for any advice,

Marrtin

Hi Martin,

You can use your SA-700 with beolab 8000 but not directly as 8000 is active speaker, if does your speakers will be damaged and blown away as each speaker has its own power amp, you need to connect it with the pre out of the SA-700 but i will recommend you better dedicated pre-amp for 8000 as 8000 are very refined speakers.

Hi Martin,

the BeoLab 8000 fit directly to the BeoSound9000 via PowerLink cables..

The BeoLabs are rated 140something Watts each so no need to use an additional amplifier Wink
