I'd like to share the speakers (a pair of BL 8000s) between a BV11 and an old BeoCenter 9500 sitting side by side. I don't want or need any other link functionality. Is this possible without the costly NL/ML converter? Is it as simple as a Powerlink splitter cable?
Thanks
Jon
Hi Jon,
Boelab speakers should only have a direct connection to one device, as you can end up with unwanted noises and interference through the speakers if you try to link them directly to both devices via a splitter (the splitter is only for linking multiple speakers to one device).
Instead, for best results, please connect the speakers to the BV11 TV with two RJ45 to Powerlink cables:-

You can then connect the Beocenter 9500 to the 9 pin AV input of the TV with this cable to share the speakers (there is no need for a converter if the Beocenter is in the same room as the TV):-

Any questions, please ask!
Kind regards, Steve.

HI Steve,
Thanks so much for the info - much appreciated.
With this solution am I able to operate the BeoCenter with a single push of the remote (e.g. 'CD') through the speakers attached to the BV11 (and screen muted) or would also have to turn on the TV and set it to 'Aux' as well?
You would need to power on the TV and set it to the AV input, then you can use the CD, tape and radio of the Beocenter as normal. A couple of extra button presses allows you a £600 GBP saving by not needing the ML/NL converter......
Perfect, thanks Steve.
Last question I promise! In the case of a BV10 (as said TV hasn't been purchased yet), would this allow 1 button operation by using a MasterLink cable to connect the two units?
Regards
That would require a Beolink Converter (type 1161166) to give full integration between the BV10 and the Beocenter as the 9500 doesn't have Masterlink. These converters are available pre-owned as they are no longer in production. I can provide all the cables for this on request, or alternatively I can build a direct cable (without the converter) that will require the TV to be manually set up with the Beocenter as per the BV11.
