In 1977 I purchased a Beomaster 1900, Beogram 1900 and Beovox S75 speakers. I was single at the time and my only other possessions were a mattress without a frame and some book cases. But the B&O equipment was so beautiful I didn't much care about what I didn't have. About 2 years later I had more possessions in the way of furniture but the B&O equipment was still what I prized most, and this was when my house was burglarized. They took my Beomaster receiver along with some other stereo gear and camera equipment. I replaced my stolen stereo equipment but not the receiver with a B&O. But I missed The Beomaster 1900 and its beautiful design.
Fast forward 33 years. I was looking on eBay with Beogram as my search word when I found a listing for a "Beogram 1900 receiver." Someone listed it as a Beogram rather than Beomaster and had a reasonable buy now price. The description said it did not work in one channel but was a 9 out of 10 cosmetically. I was skeptical that a receiver that old could be in that good of condition so sent the seller an email enquiring further. His reply was that there was some corrosion on the antenna but that was all and he wanted to err on the side of it being in better shape than stated rather than be perceived as less than. So I went ahead and bought it. It arrive yesterday and although only the right channel works as was stated by the seller and a couple of the lamps are out, it is beautiful. Not a scratch on it, well one on the bottom, but only one. It looks brand new from the top, simply amazing condition. The antenna corrosion was pretty easy to remove that he talked about. I have contacted Martin about capacitor and lamp kits with hopes that will solve the one channel problem. I plan on ordering those from him next week.
If anyone has an opinion about what might be the cause of the one channel being inoperative other than capacitors I would appreciate hearing from you.

My first B&O was also a Beomaster 1900. It will need new capacitors, they all do by now, but I suggest you check the balance slider andthe solder joints of all the output stage transistors.

Funny enough, my first B&O hifi kit was a Beomaster 2400 (identical with the 1900, with a different styling)
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
I was talking with a barista at the local coffee shop I frequent aboutt the Beomaster 1900 I just bought. It is incredible when you describe it to someone so much younger and is unfamiliar with this B&O equipment and how ahead of its time the touch sensitive controls were. How much I took for granted at the time because there was nothing like it to compare it to, now I am writing this post on an iPad which has the same touch sensitive capability. Who would have known.
Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement slider (preferably balance control) for a Beomaster 1900
