Hi,
I read in an old thread that people have problems with UHD-signals over 30hz.
Can someone tell me if I have the "same" problem or this is just the "early" samples of the Eclipse?
With my Apple TV I can without problem get 60hz in HDR 4:2:0. As soon as I use Chroma subsampling 4:4:4 the screen goes banana and just flicker.
But: No UHD movies or anything else is shot in Chroma subsampling 4:4:4 and what I know ALL UHD-movies even if they should be in 60hz HDR they are in chroma subsampling 4:2:0. I have not found any movie or anything else that have Dolby Vision in 50/60 hz. So why Do we see this as a problem? What I know just one movie is shot in 60hz which is 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk'
Just use chroma subsampling 4:2:0 in your Apple TV 4k. If You have a UHD-bluray player connected, use chroma subsampling 4:2:0 and then everything shoud work perfect. I have an Oppo UDP-203 and have put it in chroma subsampling 4:2:0 and all movies is shot in this color space. The Movie "Billy Lynn" that is shot in 60hz HDR (not Dolby vision!), works great in the Eclipse and I can se that the Oppo-player output 60 hz/BT.2020 color space and chroma subsampling 4:2:0. So the eclipse CAN handle 60hz HDR.
Someone in the old thread said that the Eclipse DONT WORK with any UHD-sources over 30hz.
My question: Does some eclipses dont handle any UHD-sources over 30hz and mine does? Or are we talking about Dolby Vision in 50/60hz that dont work?
My only problem with my Eclipse is that Dolby Vision dont work over 30hz when the source is connected thru HDMI in the soundcenter. But that is no problem since there is NO UHD-movies shot in fram-rates higher than 24hz or maybe 30hz.
Regarding putting your connected HDMI-sources in chroma subsampling 4:2:0 vs 4:4:4: The thing is that either You let the Eclipse make the conversion to RGB-signal (4:2:0 to 4:4:4 and then to RGB) or let the connected device do most of the conversion. The problem with the HDMI-inputs in soundcenter is that you must let the Eclipse make all the chroma subsampling conversions and put the connected devices in 4:2:0.
I have been in contact with Beocare and they say that "some" eclipse samples is affected and not all. IS THIS CORRECT or is it ALL Eclipse:s?
Best RegardsMartin

Hi Chris,
why should they replace the soundcenter and not just the HDMI board?
best Regards
Martin
Got an answer from the repair-man.
Vedr. der skal skiftes et modul, samt 2 stk kabler i din soundbar,
B&O regner med at kunne leverer delen omkring uge 24.
English:
A module must be replaced, as well as 2 cables in your soundbar,
B & O expects to be able to deliver the part around week 24.
So its not the whole Soundbar that will be switched out. Anyone else that has a repair planned?

I wonder if this module/cable exchange is needed for ALL Eclipse:s which is sold or just some and in that case from which serialnumber? Does anybody have clue regarding this?
Is it a general fault on ALL Eclipse?
When did You buy your Eclipse?
I ve been told that the exchange is for units produduced after 1th of february

Anyone got a repair date booked yet? My repair man haven't got back to me with a date yet.
Just to share with all Eclipse owners that I have same problem watching AppleTV 4K with 4:2:2 chroma on what LG calls a SuperUHD TV (so not the OLED panel, but with all HDR formats supported).
Could be that this is all LG’s issue with their HDMI electronics and has nothing to do with B&O. Switched to 4:2:0 and the problem and artifacts seem to all be gone. I believe once you get your HDMI board replaced you will be normally able to go with all chroma settings.
Got it repaired today. Works like a charm now.
Hi, was it an "easy" task for the repairman to do? Did they put screen and soundcenter apart when doing the job? How long time did it take?

With the 55" they only need to open the black part underneath the TV and some part of the Soundbar. On the 65" they need to remove the screen. Took 20 minutes to perform.

Beofan67:For which Eclipse version is this recommendable? Mine is from end 2017? Will the B&O dealer contact me if my Eclipse has a hdmi board which needs an upgrade? That is the least I should expect from B&O customer care!?

Contact the dealer yourself. Every model prior to February 2018.
I had my Eclipse repaird yesterday with new HDMI card. It works perfect now both wit Apple TV 4k and Oppo UDP 203.
