Why do sellers think they can ask that much money for a book and a Serenata?

Because if people pay it, they'll be very happy I suppose..

99.9% of buyers know what something is worth, or at the very least they have an idea.

0.01% are fools, and will pay whatever someone asks without researching the real value.

it's the 0.01% which these people prey on....

I've got the book.  Don't remember what I paid for it - $25 maybe.  Certainly much less than $200.

If anyone wants it, I'd happily trade it for some other B&O trinket of equal or near-equal value.

Hey, Lee.  Maybe I could donate it to the site for a monthly prize draw?

The Serenata for that much money!! They were rotten phones when new and only half reasonable music players! I think even the Serene was a better phone.
