In the US (at least), when you buy a non-M5 multi-room speaker (BS1, BS2, BS35 or Shape), you get a complimentary M3.

The fine print says this runs through the end of the year.  If you're "on the fence" (as I am with a BS2), this might put you over.

That would have been a nice addition when I got my BS2.

I highly recommend the BS2, by the way - it’s the most used item in our system, and always surprises guests with its look and sound.

That's a great deal!

I just wish the M3 had Spotify Connect, I am sure it would sell double fast if it did.

Interesting.  I had not noticed that.  So this means (please correct me where I'm wrong), that the M3 cannot "join" another room where Spotify is playing (since this is only allowed for "Spotify capable" devices)...  I think you can still cast Spotify audio to it via Chromecast (at least with an Android phone), no?  I think this is possible because my phone at times gets confused between Chromecast and Spotify connect (they both sometimes try to control my Chromecast).

Hmm, good question! This is my Spotify multiroom experience...

So I listen to Spotify Connect on a BeoSound 2, then hit join on my V1, which then joins the BeoSound 2 source..

"{}/{} Spotify - Bedroom, Blessings - Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book" is displayed as a source on the TV display, in the Spotify App the following output is displayed (Beosound 2 + V1). And here is the B&O magic. I can use the BeoRemote one to pause, play and skip tracks...

So as I understand it, multiroom acts as the transport, as long as the source supports Spotify Connect (so not the M3) you can add any multiroom element.

Native Spotify Connect on the V1 would be awesome but this is a pretty good solution.

[Edited to add: Playback is flawless. No dropouts or artefacts ever]

That is a funny thing.

I can easily add my two BV’s (to a Spotify Connect session playing in my Essence 2) - in fact I do that all the time.

But there is no way to add the M3....

.....which is kind of a game stopper for me.

Only workaround is to play Spotify via AirPlay....then you can add the M3 as well to the multiroom experience.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Offer now on the BeoPlay UK site. Not enough to sway me as I was considering a BS2 but now with the Edge making an appearance I think I am more inclined to go that way. If the 'free' speaker was a better model than the M3 then I might have gone for it, but not for a £279 speaker. That's just me though!

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
