Hi all, quite fancy dusting off the vinyls and listening to them through my lab9s, they are currently connected to and driven by my moment. Can I intergrate a Beogram in to this set up? If so, is it any Beogram or just certain models. Never really looked at B and O turntables before, any major pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thanak in advance

The quick answer is “yes” because you can pick up a Beogram with built in RIAA, or purchase an outboard RIAA unit to go with a standard Beogram. See Steve from SoundsHeavenly for ideas. There is a fairly wide selection of excellent units to choose from across the BG range if you just going to dabble. You can shoot for the more serious units, but they can be more costly. I currently listen to my records on a Beogram 7000 connected to a BeoSystem 6500 integrated with a BeoSystem 3 playing on 4 Beolab Pentas and a CSW BassCube 15. Vinyl in surround Big Smile. Quite an experience.

I have a Beogram 2200 connected to my Moment using cable and RIAA from Soundsheavenly.

Moment senses the line in and switch to that input when the needle hit the record.

Really cool.

One thing that you have to look for, when you buy a used BeoGram turntable is the needle/the pickup.

These are usually quite expensive, so be sure that you can see the turntable and hear it playing..........before you purchase one.

Buy a new record player instead. Then you can get a new pick-up instead of some “don’t know how long it will work”-MMCx

Wink

Personally I will buy a Pro-ject with a blue or black pickup from Ortofon Big Smile

Hi James,

Yes, this can be done!  Please see this link for details of which Beogram models need a pre-amplifier to be added when used with the Moment:-

http://www.soundsheavenly.com/faq/question/beogram-turntables-need-external-pre-amplifier-kit/

When I buy a new Beogram for use at home, I get a new SMMC4 cartridge from Sound Smith in the USA, these work perfectly and last for years, they sound far better than the original B&O cartridges (which are usually well over 25 years old by now).

Alternatively, any other brand of turntable can be used with the Moment - please feel free to drop me a line via my sponsor link below once you have chosen your turntable, then I can help you to get everything connected.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

I’ve owned other turntables in the past and always noted they pick up any footsteps in the room. You could see the effect by watching the woofers pulsing violently when the volume is up and you walk across the room. I see none of that with Beograms. Are there current products from other vendors that can match this? I never seem to see this mentioned in magazine reviews.
