Hello from Los Angeles Beoworld Forum,
I just finished putting the finishing touches on a complete Beomaster 8000 system and thought I would share.
Beomaster 8000
Beocord 8000
Beogram 8000
Beovox MS 150
Its really a gorgeous system in rosewood, The MS 150's may instigate a minor earthquake in my apartment building but that's to be expected.
I dont really know the rarity of a system like this, but I can say every ounce of this functions perfectly, no scratches dings dents, etc. I've carefully tried to polish the beogram plastic hood, but im afraid to get too aggressive with it. I have a pair of 20cl styli in good condition to match.
The only real issue I have is the speaker mesh covers which have faded a little and look tired in a few places. Any thoughts on where to buy some matching speaker fabric?
My only regret is I dont know what to work on next now that this is in.
Any Ideas on what to do next with a system like this?
Glad to share, I'm a long time reader first time poster.
Cheers!
Just gorgeous. My ideal system from the time. I got somewhat close to it, back in the day -- a Beomaster 6000, a Beocord 8000, and a Beogram 3404 (iirc). And a rosewood table, though not that exact model. I miss the B&O of those years.
Enjoy your beautiful system.
That looks awesome. I am still sad that I sold my complete Beosystem 8000 but with all the B&O I have there no space as it is very big!
Well done though, so great to see one with the complete stand etc.
Great system,
I hope you enjoy it :)
Congratulations! Beosystem 8000 is my all-time favourite product from Struer, yours looks gorgeous also because it includes the original SC80 cabinet.

Cleviebaby:Great system. I sold my 8000 system last year after umming and aaghing for months about selling it. It just took up so much room and my partner hated it. I still wonder occasionally if i should have kept it. I bought it from 'Peter', the well known and much respected moderator on this site and I believe he went through similar feelings of loss. In fact, I'm not so sure he hasn't recently bought another Beomaster 8000! Cleve

Hi John,
I thought he might have done! Did you eventually sell the Pentas, by the way - they were a real steal?
I hope you and Fliss are well.
Hi Cleve - both well thanks and hope you're the same?
Pentas went to a local B&O fan who had another pair already. Glad they stayed in the collecting community but they were difficult to shift.
Finally made the Lab 5 upgrade and haven't looked back. Don't think I'll go down the vintage route again but you can never say never!
Just beautiful! Even though I own lots of other B&O and lots of other hi-fi, I have long said that if I were ever forced to get rid of everything else and only keep one system, the 8000 would be it.
Like yours, though, my MS150.2s are a bit tatty, particularly in terms of the grilles. I really must do something about them...
Any Thoughts on where to buy matching Grill Fabric?

Don't know, I'm afraid. As my grilles are in one piece but just very faded, I was debating dyeing them rather than replacing them.
John's 8000 was too tempting though still have no idea what I am going to do with it! It was however a better buy that the old Volvo which took me down that way, though that is now working properly! My Beosound 2 has also seen its first action in a while as my daughter is home and uses her phone for music!
The 8000 was something I should have kept as it is one of the three best audio systems that B&O made - the others being the Beolab 5000 system and the 4401 of course! I do also miss the 7000 system which always sounds better than my Beocenter 2 and the 9500 which I have lent to a friend which is the very best B&O design in my opinion - simply fantastic ergonomics.

Everytime I buy something vintage it goes wrong and it gets taken to the charity shop and I say never again, and then 6 months later I am buying again! If/when my long awaited 4002 ever goes wrong it will be sent to a specialist for repair. I still want a 4400 to go with my 4002 and M100-2's and will wait to get one that has been restored.
Your system looks fantastic - very classic - enjoy
I am extremely jealous of this fabulous system - well done!
But tell me....
After all that effort and TLC, why on earth not hide all the cables which would allow the machines to shine more.
For me, seeing all that black spaghetti around these beautifully designed machines is rather akin to painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa ;-)
It is the very antithesis of the design ethic of Jensen who went to great pains to hide all the ugly bits.
OK - rant over - I'm still jealous! ;-)
Thats really funny you should say that, when I went to collect the MS150s that Llew had set aside for me, my girlfriend was NOT happy, it was only when I had restored the drivers and she listened to them... She then understood fully. That and she could see the pure joy they gave me. I was running it with my beomaster 6000 at the time... she then started looking up B&O for herself, saying you should get an 8000 to match it, I pulled my broken 8000 out and said... what like this one? That is now repaired along with the tape deck.
I still need to get the record deck restored. She is pestering me to get that done, and get a SC80 for it to all sit on... Perhaps over winter the deck will get restored. I think she loves them almost as much as I do now!
Either way my MS150s would need to be removed from my cold dead hands! The only way. (That or a silly number that I couldn't refuse that would get me into beolab 5s... that will never happen).
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
