Beomaster 8000 type1901 question / help

Hi There fellow enthousiasts,

Got me a non working beomaster 8000, it was dead at the beginning.

Recapped it completely replaced the tip 141/146, new voltage regulators and it came on while i had a headphone connected. Turned the speakers on while headphone still in.

There is sound, good reception on fm.

Tp1/2 and ph are working.

But then i removed the headphone ... fm started running of, distorted sound thru speakers an then standby.

When i reconnect the headphone it is working again.... shoot me, can / does somebody explain or recognize this strange behaviour?

I myself think it has something to do with the headphone acting

like somekind of resistor because it connected directly to the 

speaker inputs.

Therefore when removed from its jack resistance is lowered and current goes down as well.and by that getting too low.

pls correct me if i am wrong.

 

What impedance are your headphones?

Hi Martin, it‘s the bang and olufsen form 1 35ohms.

strange thing is that when headphone is plugged in sound thru speakers is good!

It's really difficult to guess at what you have done and what state your output amplifier assembly is in without any pictures. If you were working with the wiring on those boards you might have something connected incorrectly.

You‘re right, without pictures it‘s hard to say.

But having a hard time getting pics from my iphone to this forum.

anyways, went over the cables again and again because you are right, they‘re easy to mix up or plug em in the wrong way.

took out the right outputboard because i somehow expected the fault there sonewhere and guess what.

i missed a burnt trace, the one that is on the ground pin.

i soldered that and now everything is great again!!

a missing grounding can give these errors i learned.

Very good.  Besides old capacitors needing replacement I have found the majority of the time that faults are some sort of connection problem. Either with a cable connector or some board trace ... or bad solder joint. 

I'm glad it is working again. The Beomaster 8000 is one of my favorite receivers.

3 of em now working again. 2 of em past the test of working almost everyday

for two weeks.

recently purchased a beocord 9000 as well and there are 3 beograms 8000/8002 waiting for

a little care.
