Some time ago, the sound became increasingly weaker until it eventually faded away completely. I opened it up, but couldn't see any signs of visible damage to any components, so I swapped all caps which I identified as electrolytics .

The comprehensive task of recapping and troubleshooting the Beomaster 1000 amp was well worth it. Sounds amazing.

Just a slight problem: The FM reception is mono only,  you can hear it. The stereo lamp doesn't light up even though I have an antenna attached. But  if I select any other source the stereo indicator lights up .

Don't know how to go about and troubleshoot this problem. But I have the service manual, and access to oscilloscope and multimeter.  Any pointers is appreciated.

First; Does your Beomaster 1000 have the stereo decoder installed?
It was an optional extra in all but the latest production series.

Does the stereo lamp light up when you choose one of the tape or phono inputs?

Did you replace any other components besides capacitors - like f.e. transistors?

Martin,

I am not really sure if there's a stereo decoder when you ask me. Since it was I long time ago I used the Beomaster more regularly ( has been in my parents house for a while until the unit broke)  I cant really remember now if  it ever has had FM in stereo.

There's this antenna primary circuit / tuner/ metal box but no other metal box/decoder what I can see. Yes the stereo lamp lights up fine when I choose tape or phono input.

Haven't replaced anything but capacitors. No transistors at all. No signs of overheated components. From what I know this unit is bought sometime around '69 to '70.

Regards

Johan

The stereo decoder is an optional module in the form of a apprx 8x12cm circuitboard fitted upside down above the main board with a
connector that goes to the main board.

This Beomaster has it:

This Beomaster doesn't:

You don't have to open the Beomaster to see if it has the module. You can see it through the vent grills on the top.

Martin,

I see. That settles it, as I don't have that board installed Smile. Will put the pieces back together now. It's working.

Thank you for the information.
