Hi guys.
Been on the forums lurking but haven't posted but absorbed lots of information when I purchased my AVANT 55 and BL20 in May 2015 from the Bondi Junction Sydney Store. I've been very happy with the integrated setup, look and sound and overall service. I''ve had a number of B&O products over the years.
Prior to recent NYE, the TV screen went all fuzzy and static on the screen. The speakers seem to be working fine.
Been told by the service person that its $2300 plus approx $450 to replace the main board. Call it $3k
I've subsequently read about the issues with the Australian distributor , store closures and B&O at large. tbh if i didn't invest in the BL20, I prob would have sold the TV and gone to another brand.
So my options are:
1) spend $3k and hope to get another 3-5 years of happy use of the B&O tv and speaker
2) Spend $10k for the eclipse hopefully less and hope to use the motor stand and speakers and sell the avant for parts for 2-3k. This would cost $6-7k but i'd get a newer TV but have the B&O warranty/ overall brand in question. Eclipse is coming up to 17months old. This would have made more sense maybe a year ago before bigger issues came up as well.
3) sell the BL20 and TV and move to another brand/setup. Can I integrate the BL20 with other TV's ?
Such a shame whats happening with the Australian distributor and overall brand.
Thank you so much for your advice.

That's incredible considering the TV is just over 3 years old. There are so many people reporting Avant issues on this forum recently.
I'd be very reluctant to spend $3K on a 3-year-old TV.
Not sure what I'd advise. You make a good point on the Eclipse becoming an old model and we don't know what's coming. B&O might surprise us with an update - they did with the A9 MKIII.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Yeah I had five year warranty on Avant MK 1, when I had issues with it, they replaced it with an Avant NG and then I had issues with that. So now they have had that replaced with an Eclipse - all under warranty. (The Eclipse thankfully has been the most reliable and impressive performance of all of them. No way I could recommend paying that much to keep the Avant)
You mention using your Avant motorised stand on an Eclipse. Don’t think this is possible without some serious adjustments. They are similar but very different stands.
I've also had issues with the Avant after the 3 year warranty and have just had the main board / video engine replaced (at cost) which has now caused separate issues with 4K. The Avant just turned 4.
I tried e-mailing BeoCare and i don't agree that they are great. After asking them to consider this under goodwill considering how much B&O product i have bought and the referrals i have given to other people who have bought B&O, in the end of multiple exchanges, the person responds, no, contact the store, (after i had already said, we have no stores in Australia) and in the end said "that he normally doesn't look after Australia" ... well why did he answer the e-mail to them in the first place i mentioned Australia, etc.
$2500-$3000 sounds right as the board itself is around $1300-$1500.
I am now considering further investigation through our statutory warranty rights in Victoria.
I will never buy another BeoVision again

My thoughts are:
1. You could spend the money, after all you would spend that on another TV set
2. The eclipse stand is separate and distinct to the Avant stand. you can however, use an Avant NG on the Gen 1 stand. People seem to rate the Eclipse and have had a solid experience (generally)
3. You could sell, but if you choose 1, you'll keep them
The new Australian distributor is coming on board and what i found out is that the Bondi store may be open but that's the only one and it's in your State. Perhaps call them and see if they will honour the repair?
Let us know how you go Nico.
Hi Nico, i have sent you an email.
