Does anyone have experience of having a NAS run with MinimServer rather than Twonky into a BeoApp ecosystem?

Twonky media server was recommended by B&O for the Moment and Encore. Therefore, I am  wondering if I convert my NAS with Twonky to one with Minimserver on it, would my BV Eclipse renderer and BS Essence still recognise the DNLA server architecture and control in the normal BR1/BeoApp way?

Not sure if that makes clear sense but if anyone can help - would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can have both running on your NAS at the same time, therefore you can compare both.

I tried MinimServer but I'm very satisfied with Twonky, I'm used to its navigation tree which brings artists index and its kind of iTunes integration for playlists.

I also have PLEX installed on the same NAS, but its DLNA server is not as good and not fully understood by B&O products, so I only leverage PLEX UIs (TV app, mobile app and web UI) which are very good and that you can easily integrate in a B&O multiroom setup as long as you have Chromecast activated.

Thanks, good feedback. I’m actually jumping through loops configuring a 3rd party music server and streaming transport, but getting all the comparable standards in-line and keeping DLNA file sharing compliant with the BeoApp, Essence and Eclipse is tricky.

This appears to confirm an exit root

First I did use Twonky, but switched to Minimserver because I wanted to listen to SACD files

The later is specialized and only for music and does have more tweaking possibilities.

It does work fine with the B&o app,

as does Twonky

Which also means that you’ll loose the artist tile cover own management in case you do it for your Moment, not the biggest show stopper but good to know

I didn't try that, but despite my tweaking in Minimserver, the Moment did its own job with the info from the server. So I presume the Moment still works the same.

I was not clear, sorry for that .... I meant that if your Moment is set for Expert mode, you'll not be able to leverage Minimserver to expose your own artists images to be processed by the Moment.

You are correct, not having this service will not prevent the Moment to find what is available on Internet

To illustrate the side by side option, Twonky and Minimserver running on the same NAS:

As stated by Carolpa, MinimServer brings you much more flexibility for browsing options.
