In Beogram CD 5500, CD 6500 and CD 7000, the laser disc drive is supported by four rubber parts withthe purpose of dampening vibrations from the surroundings.
These rubber parts are known to crack and break with age, leaving the player more or less useless.
A very typical symptom of bad suspension parts is when the disc begins to scrape on thetray (disc drawer) when rotating.When you open and inspect the deck you will find the rubber parts have cracked and the disc drivewill have sagged down.In severe cases the drive can be found standing directly metal on metal, practically rattling aroundwith no suspension at all.
This repair kit contains a set of new rubber parts and mounting hardware (special nuts andbolts) needed to fit them.
Basic electronic skills and tools are required to replace the parts.Working carefully any fair-skilled DIY'er will also be able to replace the parts.

Indeed, my 5500 CD player started to scratch and it comes down to cracked suspension rubber.
I decided to look closer and once I flipped over the mechanism, I realised that the rubbers are pinned to the swing arm part, see picture below (towards the top, middle). So, what is the most gentle way of removing this? Now I realise why the above mentioned kit comes with screws.
