I'm just finishing up fixing an old 3000.  Two things left to finish and i could use some advice:

1. The unit had a completely dead output capacitor in the right channel.  The schematic in the envelope didn't show a value on this, but a schematic i found online for a model 2402 showed these to be 3000uf and 70V.  I bought a pair of 3300uf 80V capacitors to install.  To my surprise, the ones i removed were 5000uf and 70V, quite a bit higher than expected from the schematic.  The thing sounds great but is it best to buy a couple of larger caps that match the original capacity?

2. i installed one of Martin's kits replacing all the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors, the FM rectifier and most of the trimmers.  I say most because i haven't figured out how to get to the two trimmers that set the tuning voltage. The solder joints are underneath the flexible board under the tuning wheel.  Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get to these last two trimmers?

Thanks,

Jeff

I just ordered a pair of 5600/80V capacitors to more closely match the original components (vs. the schematic) to be on the safe side.

Still looking for any advice on how to get at the two trimmers that control the FM voltage.  Can you get them if you take the front off?

Hi , thanks for bothering to follow this up, I am in a similar position at the moment. I need to replace one of the 3000uF capacitors so figured I may as well do both, where did you order them from? Also who is this Martin you speak of, does he sell kits of the smaller capacitors?

Thanks!
