Hi,

i'm looking for some advice please, I have the above system, always wanted one, I have replaced the belts on the player and it played great with no problems, then all of a sudden it now plays as if it is on half volume?

i'm no radio engineer so please in plain language, I have a classic car and can fix anything on that, engine rebuilt, interior etc etc, but never anything like this.

Thanks in advance Alan

hi, if you have only screwed on cars so far, it will be difficult to locate and fix the error yourself 😨

if only the volume of the tape when playing is reduced, in the simplest case,

a heavily contaminated head (tape abrasion has deposited) may be the cause (then you habe two clean wit 100% alcohol and q-tip ,never use a microfibre cloth here, that would rub too hard here and continue to rub off the clay head)

or the head is too far rubbed (worst case, then it must be replaced)and defect.

The cause can also locate in the electronics between the sound head and the amplifier, then you need someone to "haw and measure" the  classic hi-fi device !

Hi, many thanks for the reply, I thought it might need a good clean, or even replacing, hopefully it will be just a good clean,

thank you for the reply and advice, I will try the clean first

Regards
