Hi everyone!
I’m new to this forum, and in need of some assistance from experienced B&O-guys :-)
My setup is a BeoCenter 2 in the living room and a BeoLab 2000 in main bathroom(Works fine). Now I’ve decided to upgrade to BL 3500. But I can’t get it to work. When I plug it in it doesn’t seem to be able to communicate with the BeoCenter 2.
All tips welcome :-) I’ve tried the different setups modes, and another BL3500, but nothing changes.
Are the different ML cables? Setup on the BeoCenter?
Best regards,

Hi Carl_Henrik,
Welcome to BeoWorld! The Beolab 3500 should work on the same Masterlink cable as the Beolab 2000. Sorry for the simple question, but have you tried powering off both the Beocenter and the Beolab, then powering them back on?
Give them a few minutes to communicate and the clock should appear on the 3500 display. If it doesn't, please let me know and I can advise on the process for putting the 3500 into Test Mode to check the software and cabling.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hi Steve!
I've read a lot of threads and have not been able to figure out the solution to my problem. Found this thread and I have the same problem but your suggestion did not solve my issue. The second problem I have is that the Beolab 3500 is not responding to remote. I am new to this and would really appreciate if you could help me out.
BR,
Yasser
Hi Yasser,
Welcome to Beoworld! There are 3 likely causes of this issue:-
1) The remote control may not work - have you tested this on other B&O products please?
2) The cable to the speaker may be faulty - has this been seen to be working recently please?
3) The speaker may be in the wrong option setting - have you had this speaker working in this setup recently please, or have you just purchased/moved it?
We can then help you to get everything working.
Thank you Steve!
1. Remote works fine with other B&O products.
2. The master link cable seems to be working since the mute button on the BeoLab 3500 responds and turns on radio or active source playing on BC2 and also the clock displays on BL.
3. The speaker and cables are all recently purchased. The speaker may be in the wrong option setting but since it does not respond to remote I have no idea to how I can change the settings.
Best Regards,
Hi again!
To be clear I got the BL3500 to communicate with BC2, only issue remaining is BL not responding to remote.

Please follow the instructions below to set the 3500 into option 6:-
Using a Beolink 1000:
– Press LINK, the appropriate number (6), and then STORE.
Using a Beo 4:
– Hold the • button while pressing LIST.
When the Beo 4 display reads OPTION?, press GO.
– Press LIST twice to display L.OPT and then key in the appropriate number (6).
It sounds as if Steve has identified the problem. I would add, having added two BL3500s to my BC2, that I would not use the small Masterlink junction boxes where you are prone to get poor connections. I finished up using standard 3 amp mains electrical strip/ screw connectors which give you a bullet proof connection or splice into the ML cable.

Thanks for all your input and guidance! I’ve done all of that using a Beo 4 remote. But the BL3500 is unresponsive to any remote signal. I’ve tried with two remotes, I can’t even turn the volume up or down, there is no response whatsoever. I must add that the master link cable goes directly from BL to BC2, there is no junction box in between. If the BL at some point has been set to not respond to remote commands is there a way of resetting the BL? Or could the ir receiver perhaps be faulty? According to the threads I’ve read if the ir receiver is faulty then the timer button shouldn’t work either. As I mentioned previously I’ve read through all the forums I could find on the issue before I posted my question since I had no luck in solving the issue.
If your BL3500 doesn`t even respond to option setting (short blinking light after pressing LINK - 6 - STORE) and you can access your BC2 manually by pressing the mute button, I think, the ir receiver of your BL3500 is dead.
You can try MENU - 02 - GO to check ML errors or MENU - 02 - GO to open ML port, but I think, this won`t work either.
