You think you got a pretty god sound.

Put on your favorit track and sit in your favorite sit. Yeah, I love it. Sound to kill for. Turn it up to your prefered volum.

Now, cup your hands behinde your ear till you looke like mickey mouse.

If you here a difference you got a long way to go.

Hi Esax,

Doing the "mickey mouse" pose lets your hands act as mechanical reflectors to your ears, funnelling more midrange sounds into your ear canals.  This changes the tone of the sound that you hear.

This can be a useful exercise for sound engineers in live music venues to give a better feel for the sound, along with pulling outwards on the middle of your earlobe to open your ear canal for better high frequency reception.

Ever tried listening to a very quiet sound in a nearly silent room (eg. a sleeping child in the next room)?  Opening your mouth, taking a breath and holding it aids your listening at very low sound levels.

The human body is full of quirks like this that can be useful at times, even if they make little sense!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

I think you are wrong. I think that’s what all audiophil looking for. It’s the difference between live and a recording.

Just imagine how awesome it'd sound if you did that at a live concert then.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad
