Hi guys!
Picked up my first B&O product yesterday, a pair of Beolab 4 + Beosound 4 + Beolink 4 + Audio Pro B2.27. I have connected everything and Radio and CD works just fine, however AUX is not.. I bought an RCA-cable to AUX and I connected the tewo RCA-connections into the back of the Beosound 4 and the AUX into both my phone and computer, but I don't get any sound. If I turn the volume up to 70-80 then I can hear slight mumble/static from the audio source..
Can you guys please help me out? Is it possibly the RCA-cable that I need to change or can it be the AUX-port on the Beosound 4 that is defective?
Best regards
Hi and welcome to BeoWorld.
It's a long time since I set up a BeoSound 4. I recall that you have to go into the set up menu to enable the "Aux" function. Once this is done you need to make sure that you connect the RCA phono plugs to the "Input" NOT output sockets underneath the unit.
Hope that helps.
Opman
Hi Opman
Thank you for your response, greatly appreciated!
I have already activated the AUX-mode and the RCA phono plugs are connected to the input sockets. The problem is, however, that the sound that is transmitted through the speakers are minimal (I have to max the volume on the beosound in order to hear anything) and the sound is similar to cracking noise. Very minimalistic sound, perhaps the RCA cable is defective? I bought it new today but I will go buy another tomorrow to see if that helps.
Kind regards

Did you try to use the other Aux-RCA-connections on the Beosound 4? Which one did you use? There's AUX IN and OUT on the Beosound 4.
I tried both of them, neither works. But it should be AUX in, seeing as I want to play music from my phone through the system. I really hope it's just the cable, otherwise I bought myself a nice-looking shell for $500..
Okay, time to update.
I bought two new cables and the problem is slitghtly fixed.
When e.g. playing music through my AUX-cable, I can't have the volume on my phone set to more than half otherwise the sound starts cracking in the beolab 4 speakers. So now I have to have the volume on the phone set to max 50% but increase the sound to around 80 out of 90 on the beosound 4. This is problematic as setting the volume as high as that on the B&O stereo increases the static sound from the speakers.. I really don't know what the problem is, do any of you know? Please help me out then, much appreciated.
I also tested it out on my computer and the same problem occurs, I can't set the volume on the computer to max as it otherwise will crack and not be audible.
EDIT: I recorded the problems and put it on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT_nqhEw1sI
Sounds to me like there's a mismatch in the output of the phone, aka the headphone jack I assume, and the input of the beosound. If you turn the phone up too high it overloads the Aux in. I'd try something like an iphone docking station that has line level outs taken from the docking connector rather than the headphone out.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
I'd recomment thinking of connecting a bluetooth receiver, a Chromecast Audio or an AirPlay device to the Aux-in.
Sooner or later you will wish for the convenience of not-having your iPhone chained to the BS4.

Thank you for answering!
The problem occurs even if I play music or video through my PC. I have now tested four different cables, one of which was expensive as sh*t but the same problem occurs. I'm really confused, never have I ever experienced something like this before.. :/
Thank you for the answer!
So what would you recommend that I do in order to solve this? Is there a solution to this problem?
Hook up your PC directly to the speakers.
Sorry Antwerpen is my iPads interpretation of .. answer ...
Hi PrebenJ,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Just a thought - please can you confirm that CD, radio and SD card music are playing correctly through the Beosound 4 and speakers clearly at normal volume settings (eg. 30-40 on the Beosound volume display?)
This could help to identify if there is an issue with the Beosound, the speakers or the input connections.
For reference, the headphone output of most devices (eg. iPods, phones, PCs, etc) should normally be suitable to play directly into a B&O system once the volume level of the connected device has been set to approx. 50-75%. This should give a sound level roughly matching that of the CD player, without distortion.
Please let us know how you get on so that we can assist further.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hi NewMC and all others who - as I - have had problems getting the Beosound 4 to play through the AUX.
I wanted to play from my phone or iPad to the Beosound 4 - and thought it was supposed to be through the AUX - which would have been the obvious way.
And it is - but does not work that way.
---
What works - however - is the following:
Enable N.MUSIC
Buy a 3,5mm jack to MasterLink cord
Connect this cord to the MasterLink port on the Beosund 4
Use the 3,5mm:
Either directly, or as I do
Configure a Chromecast Audio and connect that to the 3,5mm jack
AND IT WORKS like a charm....
Spread the news to all of those who has had similar problems - and there are quite a few on the internet.
Enjoy...
