I know that several of you have replaced the rubber ring that surrounds the woofer on your Beolab 6000s. I'm about to do the same. I purchased my replacement surrounds from AudioFriends.
I've reviewed several of the YouTube videos on the topic, but I have two questions, as well as an open-ended request for any tips or learnings from your experiences.
1. I grabbed my trusty Phillips screwdriver to remove the two offending woofers from the speaker, but was immediately foiled by what appear to be Torx screws. Are these Torx? If so, what is the Torx number I need to purchase?
2. I see that removing the old glued-down rubber rings is a detailed and tedious job, with the side danger of piercing the speaker driver. Has anyone used Goo Be Gone, or similar adhesive remover, to expedite this process?
3. Are there any 'gotchas' to watch out for, or suggestions to ensure a quality job? I'm not generally a handy person, so very open to suggestion.
