Hello everyone!
This is my first post here. I've discovered this forum through the "Sounds Heavenly" videos. Since those videos are so good and informative, and this community seems very polite and helpful, I decided to register and ask for some help with my situation.
I have an old beovision 7-40 that we will probably sell or retire in the next few months. Problem is, it currently has 2 Beolab 6000s (for the back), 2 Beolab 8000s (at the front) and a Beolab 2 plugged in through powerlink mk3 I believe, and I'd like to keep them. Reading through this forum and watching some videos, I think it should be possible to keep all these speakers, but I'm not sure how. Our next tv will probably be a Samsung, like a Q90R or something, and I would love to keep functionality like volume control on the tv, but I understand if that's not possible. How do I connect all the speakers to the tv? Is there a central hub that I can connect all of them to? (Keep in mind I know very little about audio systems)
Hi Mister TD and welcome to BeoWorld.
What will very quickly become apparent when you starting looking at other brands of TV's is how much you had when you bought your BeoVision 7. The integrated surround Sound decoder enabled you to plug front, rear and Sub-woofer directly to the TV and it handled all surround sound processing.
If you go with another brand of TV, to my knowledge you will also need an external AV processor to enable you to achieve a surround sound set up using your existing B&O speakers. Doable but you have to accommodate another box and you will also loose the ability to control third party boxes such as Sky, Apple TV etc with your TV controller.
Have you considered either BeoVision Horizon or Eclipse. If your BeoVision 7 is on a floor stand you can purchase an adapter bracket from STB Brackets which enables you to hang the Horizon on your existing floor stand albeit with no motor control as the Horizon doesn't have a motorised floor stand option.
Currently deals available from B&O dealers on both Horizon and Eclipse models.
Sorry, I don't have much experience with non-B&O TV's but I'm sure others will wade in.
Good luck with whichever route you go.
Regards
Opman
A BV7 is more than just a tv.
A central part of it is the audio processor, the ‘A/V receiver’, the multi channel preamp.
That is where you have connected, configured and controlled you speaker setup untill now.
And exactly this is something that litteraly all tv’s (except for the BV’s and maybe Loewe tv’s) haven’t got onboard.
This means that you will need an external box (usually called an A/V receiver with preout spreakers connections) for what you are about to do....in addition to the Samsung or whatever tv.
There is no easy solution to this - this question is asked a lot of times on the forum.
Apart from the mentioned A/V receiver solution there is a box from the German company called Almando - some people like that, others don’t.
Keep on reading here - maybe someone can give you an example from his real life experience.
And welcome to the forum ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi MisterTD,
Welcome to Beoworld! I am glad that you like my videos Please subscribe to my channel, I will be filming a vintage B&O collection tomorrow and reviewing the Beovision Harmony next week.......
Basically, you have three options if you change the TV for a non-B&O version:-
1) Connect two Beolab speakers to the headphone socket of the TV for stereo sound, with volume control from the TV remote, or
2) Connect the TV and all of the Beolab speakers to a Beosound music system for stereo sound through all speakers, with volume control from the B&O remote, or
3) Add an external AV receiver with pre-out sockets (expect to pay from around £500 GBP in the UK) to allow all of the speakers to be connected for full surround sound with control from the receiver remote control.
I can (of course!) provide cables for any of the above options. If you can please let me know your preferred option, I will be pleased to advise on the cabling required.
The other option (as Opman suggested) is to consider upgrading to a newer B&O TV - this way you keep the superb picture quality and the speakers can simply plug straight in (I can help with clip-on adapters if you upgrade to a newer TV with RJ45 Powerlink sockets fitted, so you won't need to change your existing cables).
Please ask if you have any questions!
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hi Steve!
Thank you for your answer, and I have subscribed! Thanks to opman and millemissen for the answers as well, and I will keep the eclipse in mind (the the bv7 in my heart).
So if I understand correctly, the only way to keep the volume on the tv remote with a different tv would be to only keep two of the speakers. As for the other two options, I would like to keep the wired connection, so would there be a Beosound system to accomodate all 5 cables or do I need to convert them to wireless?
What are some good quality external AV receivers?
@Steve
When you mention 2 options for connecting in order to have stereo sound, you might also have mentioned the Connection Hub (which will still be available) as a third option in that category:
https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/16572.aspx
and it is also described here in the video from John.
You can easily use that with any BeoLabs, not just the S8 set.
However, I read the initial post as a question about multichannel setup and a new Samsung tv.
And here - as you also mention - the only option is an external A/V receiver.
I am with Opman - someone who is used to and likes the simplicity of a B&O setup including a multi channel speaker setup, might consider a newer B&O.
Hi MM,
Yes, I agree that the S8 Connection Hub is superb, the reason I didn’t suggest this was that they have just been discontinued by B&O and they are becoming very hard to find.
I need to clarify my first answer - option 1 should say ‘connect two OR MORE speakers to the tv headphone socket’ as you can use more than two speakers for this option if you wish. However, you will only get stereo sound this way.
The first thing to ask is whether the new tv will be B&O or a different brand?
Next, if it is a different brand, will it have a headphone socket fitted?
This makes it easier to narrow down the options. Any questions, please ask!
Hi Steve,
I'm not sure if the second part is still aimed at me, but here goes:
1) For the moment, I'm still thinking about a different brand, like Samsung
2) It will probably have a headphone socket, but I would like to keep the current 5.1 surround system.
Would a Marantz SR6013 be a good AV receiver? What cables/adapters would I need to plug all 6 of them into it?
The cables for the two 6000s in the back go through the wall plugs and they are loooong, so I would like to keep them there. Are there any short cables/adapters to plug them into the AV receiver?
Kind Regards,
MisterTD
Sorry, yes I should have mentioned that the second part was a question for you (the heat is getting to me!)
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the SR6013 is a great receiver, as it has pre-out sockets for all audio channels. I would also suggest looking at the Pioneer SC-LX59, Denon AVR-X3400, Yamaha RX-A830 or RX-V775 AV processors/receivers, all of which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup.
You can connect the front stereo Beolab speakers (eg. Beolabs 6000, 8000, etc) to one of these processors using these cables (one set of cables is needed for each pair of speakers to be connected):-
https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in
For the Beolab 2 subwoofer, (or if you add a Beolab 7-x/Beolab 10 dedicated centre speaker), you need a powered cable to generate the trigger signals that would normally be sent from a B&O television:-
https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/singletwin-rca-to-beolab-2-7-10-2500-powered-trigger-kit
For the rear speakers, if you need to keep the existing cables in place, please get in touch at https://soundsheavenly.com/contact-us and I can go through the options for using the existing Powerlink cables to these speakers.
