I just installed an update of the BeoSetup App. It supports now Beoplay A8 MkII.

Does anyone have further information about new features or specs of Beoplay A8 MkII?

Hi Raueber,

yes - the MK2 is the soon coming upgrade of the recent A8 - to be introduced when the MK1 is sold out.

The price will remain unchanged.

It will have DLNA support as well and a new wireless setup technology called Wireless Network Login Sharing (WNLS) - just as the A9 has.

The remote and the wallbracket isn't included any longer (sold seperately).

The lightning connector will be included with the 30 pin connector sold seperately.

A new petroleum blue colour will be introduced.

And the packaging will be changed.

Greetings Millemissen

Thanks for the info, Millemissen. These new specs make really sense for me.

But what I still don't like is the fact that for software update you still have to connect A8 with ethernet cable (update via WLAN not possible).

What bothers me more, is that I don't know if it via DLNA will play FLAC (and in which bit-/samplingrates).

The PM in the MK2 version was not a pleasant surprise for those who want/need DLNA support Angry.

I wonder what the A9 does???

Very interesting news - but the remote is now sold separately? For a BeoPlay consumer product costing nearly £1000? :)

I couldn't live without my BS8 remote. Does this mean that they are ditching the small remote and would expect a customer to purchase a Beo4 or something?

Hi Moxxey,

as I wrote, you can buy the remote seperately - if you need it.

I wonder how many (excluding you) are using that one?

Many have a Beo4 or a just using their i-/android-device for volumencontrol.

With the BeoSound 8 version tt was more usedull.

But leaving the remote away (and selling it seperately) should make the A8 MK2 cheaper - shouldn't it?

Yes, but when they let away the remote (and the wallbracket) away theoretically it should come cheaper - imo.

Apparently it doesn't.

As a person that has sold them since the their inception, I have to say that now that it has airplay, the maturity of customers are streaming only (so no need for a remote). And very few of them end up on the wall. So I don't think it will be a very big deal for new customers. I do understand the early adopter positions though.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

And the ones that do end up on the wall go on the STB Brackets solution. Brilliantly well designed and manufactured.

I might be buying a used A8. I don´t know if it is a mk1 or mk2.

I will use it with airplay, dock or rca. Will it matter for me if it is mk1 or mk2?

Mk2 only added DNLA streaming. So for airplay Mk1 is 'enough'.

Wasn't the primary difference the connector to the iPhone/iPad/iPod? MK1 was the original design. I had to ditch my MK1 and move up to a MK2 for that reason.

hi

got info..my is MK1

but...now i have problem with wi-fi and lan

I do not see A8 on wifi or lan.

Can someone check if you have lan cable in A8 ...are led lights on the JR45 socket , blinking or not when cable is in ?

White led is solid white for wi-fi and i do not see it on my android phone.

is it me or is A8 broken ?
