I have obtained an MCP 5500 to go with my Beomaster 5000. As I'm trying to refurbish both a bit, I've come to an issue where the foil beneath the glass (display) on MCP 5500 has pealed off.
The question is if this foil has any other role except for making a display a bit darker, and if anyone has an idea how to replace the foil?
I'm thinking car glass foil, but I'm not sure if that's the right way to go.
I would appreciate any kind of input on this :)
Thanks,
Nick
It doesn't have any function apart from looks. But MCP 5500 won't work with Beomaster 5000. You'll need an MCP 5000 or Terminal 5000 for this.

My MCP550 that came with my recently acquired beosystem 5500 had broken "glass" display. Removed the foil, put 3M double sided adhesive black tape and a piece of 319mm X 39mm "smoked" plexiglas and the results where very good. Saddly, as Dillen stated, MCP5500 won't work with your BM500.
Adrian.
Thanks for explanations and ideas.
Yes, I made a mistake with pairing those two :)
Well, as I like the remote very much, I'll have to sell 5000 and buy Beomaster 5500.
I have resolved the issue with the remote in the meantime, so let me share - I took off the foil, and took the glass to car glass tinting shop. They put 90% black foil on the glass, and then I used black silicon glue to put it back on the remote. It looks like new!
