Hi
I have bought a Beosound Essence 1st Generation for the lounge. Currently I have a beosound 3200 with BL8000's and BL3500 via masterlink in the bar next to the lounge. Will I be able to connect the BS3200 and BL3500 to the Essence. Currently I can have the BS3200 playing or just the BL3500 playing or both together.
Thanks!
Ben
The Essence will have to be connected to the AUX-in of the BS3200....which will work fine.
However - depending on the SW version of your BL3500 - this may not be able to start up with the AUX command directly.
So the answer is yes and (if your 3500 is not from a newer gen) no.
It is possible to upgrade the 3500 with a later SW chip.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
As for updating the 3500 see this thread:

The easiest way to find out, if it works with the 3500, is to connect something to the 3200 (e.g. a mobile phone/headphone output) to the AUX-in and test if you get sound through the 3500.
Should you need cables for connecting the Essence to AUX-in, I am sure that Steve/SoundsHeavenly can help.
Thanks for the info MM
My BL3500 does work with the AUX command so that's not an issue thankfully.
So therefore I won't be connecting the Speakers to the Essence connection box?
Sorry I don't understand exactly how the Essence would be connected to the BS3200's AUX? There is only a line in on the Essence from what I can tell from photos...no line out? It only arrives later today.
Oh you use the PL to Aux! Got it thanks.
Basicly you use the (PowerLink port of the) Essence in ‘line-out mode’.
Or you make sure (in the app), that the volume is set to approx 85%, leave it there and do all volume control via the BS3200 respectively the BL3500 (i.e. the Beo4).
It is then just a hide-away-box, which does it’s magic 🙂
Please note, that the Essence has a line-input.....which has autosense.
This might be handy if you have further devices that you want to listen to.
