Does anyone know of a way to fix an Infra Red receiver on the BeoSound 2000/Century?

Welcome to Beoworld!

Are you sure that the Beosound is not in A.OPT 0, where it will not respond to remote signals?

To undo this setting, follow the following procedure:

Turn to standby/off.

On the Beo4, press the POWER button and LIST together.  Then press LIST until OPTION is shown, press GO (centre button), and then press LIST to show A.OPT.  Then press 1.  The power light on the device may blink to show that it has been accepted.

If you have a BL1000, rather than a Beo4, then (with the Beosound at standby) press SOUND, 1, STORE.

Then try the remote again.

At the right side of the Century, you will find behind the cloth the infraredreceiver. That board needs to be repaired.

I think a Century doesn't handle the option 0,1, etc settings. It's just a standalone device.

^ I wasn't sure, but according to P7 of the manual you can disable the Century's remote function in the same way as other devices.

The Century/2000 can indeed be put into option 0 or 1 from either the remote or the keypad. From the keypad, when the unit is in standby, press the standby button (red dot), then sound, 1, store. It will blink once if it accepted the command.  The remote sequences were already stated.

As Beobuddy stated, the ir board is behind the right side fret or grill, at the edge closest to the door when closed, and very near to the middle of the opening. It sits in a slot and can be pulled up to remove. It's a bit of a pain, I used tweezers to unplug/plug the connector. It is easier to work with if you remove the screws for the amplifier board and the CD clamper so you can move the amplifier out of the way just a tiny bit. Then the IR board slips in/out easily and you can get some slack on the wire bundle.

It uses the same 3 capacitors as the BL7000. I have just recently repaired 2 of my units, its not a very difficult job.
