i just got the A9 last week, tried couple times with google home app on my iPhone, I still cannot use the google assistant on A9. The google home app is not even showing the page for setup assistant as normally when I setup another google home mini.

I was asking beoplay support, they asked me to use google assistant on iPhone instead.. is this a known issue? Or I need to return mine....

A9 Mk4 should have Google assistant. There are 4 small dots when Active. On older versions you’ll need to use it from your phone as far as I know.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

Yes, it does have 4 dot, and it only turning red when I mute it. The instruction is asking to setup via google home app, however, the app never ask anything about assistant, once it connected to the WIFI, it saying, "ALL SET".......I can setup my google home mini without problem.

Not sure it is a hardware issue or software.....

Don’t you have first to allow something in the parameters of the A9 (through the B&O app, as for Chromecast) ?

Not at all, it just says all set after choosing the wifi and connected.

It turns out that they have 2 version of 4th gen,  I guess?

From outside I cannot tell the difference, but the new one I got from local store has the labeled "Google Assistant". The 1st one I got from Amazon simply doesn't have it.....I did called the B&O support, they remote in and could not figure out the issue as well.

You can try with them.

There is a app called BeoTool, it will list all system info once it connect to the wifi with your A9. The name of the product need to A9 4th Gen with Google Assistant. If not, you better just replace it.

Hope that helps.

You are right. Mine doesn't have Google Assistant either.  The set you got from Amazon is possibly from China.  The sets there are without Google Assistant as Google is not supported there.  As long as I am told what I will be getting, I am fine.  And I would not have wasted my time to configure something that is not there.
