Have just got a 7-40 to replace my 7-32 and have noticed a ugly small metal plate that is spot welded to the base of the stand.
Whats it for ??
Bang and Olufsen is known for its design and it just looks out of place.
If it was chrome plated ok, but its just bare metal?
Any idea's

sometimes a picture says more than words;it will likely be a user-specific change.
normally the stand for the BV 7-40 except for the different brackets for the TV and Centerspeaker, and the 2 pillars looks like the stand for the BV 7-32, brushed aluminum

Hi W,
Would love to upload a picture, but its more than 1000kb zo it wont work.
I know the difference between a 7-32 and 7-40 stand, its only that the 7-40 has a plate with 4 rectangular holes about 5 x 5 cm
The plate is 5 x 5 cm
So know one in B&O land has a Beovision 7-40 stand with a metal plate on the base, which is 5 x 5 cm
Must make my stand unique ?

If you mean the one on the rear of the base, my guess would be cable management like on the Avant. Can't find a floorstand manual, so I don't know if that was ever available for the 7-40, but on the Avant you can attach an extra 'pole' to support the cables.

I have a BV 7-40 and the plate was present on the table stand but not on the floor stand where it is presently. This plate is probably for cable management as other specified.
It is shown on the service manual.

That is the plate !, cant understand why it is not chrome like the base. Was there a cover ? Seems a bit odd, going voor a chrome look and then adding a metal plate (painted dark grey ?) Also as the stand turns the cabel ( if attached to the plate) would be streched ?
It's visible in this (incorrectly titled) listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bang-and-Olufsen-B-O-Beovision-7-32-Motorised-Floor-Stand-Great-Condition/293390618991?hash=item444f71916f:g:AegAAOSw--pdUX9w
Is it not a safety feature - enabling the stand to be fixed to a rear wall to prevent it falling forwards? (belt and braces, solution, as I'm pretty sure it wouldn't )
EDIT: jvezina was right - it is for cable management - see below from the stand installation manual:
Thank you all for a clear answer.
Now I get it.
Still It would have been nice if B&O had used chrome.
Guy:
now everything is clearthat the part is not made of chrome but does not matter if the cable hose is attached to it the part would not be visible
