Howdy. Just bought an MX4000 but I just can't figure out how to operate this thing. Either I just can't figure out how to adjust the volume or the remote has a few broken buttons. Some things work, on, off, switch inputs, list, etc. but go and the volume buttons do nothing.

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to Beoworld!

If 'GO', 'Up/Down Arrows', 'Volume' and the '0' button don't work then it is indeed faulty, as these buttons share the same C4 connection point on the contact foil inside.

It is possible to take the remote apart and either try to reconnect the foil (which may fix the fault) or replace the contact foil (which should fix the fault).  If you are happy to take apart let me know and I'll link you to some disassembly threads.  A replacement foil is about £15.

Thanks for the reply. I took it apart and cleaned the connector with some IPA and wouldn't you know, it works! Awesome. Thanks.

Excellent - that was a quick result!  Enjoy your TV and get back on the forum if you need a further help!

Can you pass that info along to me?  I am experiencing the same problems and would like to get my remote working.  Also, Vresiberba, where did you clean the remote to get it working.  I attempted to clean the ribbon cable at the bottom as I saw some corrosion there but it didnt seem to do anything for me.

Thanks!

Ryan

Use this thread for disassembly: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/21827/180453.aspx

You will see a removeable clip at the base of the plastic contact foil - right hand edge of 4th photo.

And if you need a new foil, go to: https://www.avaservices.co.uk/

Hi. I should've take a few pictures but completely slipped my mind.

After you have opened the remote, there are three clips with a total of six nuts holding the 'contact foil' to the board. At the bottom there's a connector and a little flexing, metal clamp connecting the foil to the board. Carefully remove this by sliding it towards the bottom of the board/remote and it should slip right off. Next use a thin xacto knife or similar and carefully lift the foil at a bottom corner, as it's glued to the board, so you can get a hold of the little lip that connects the foil to the board. I then used a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol and cleaned the connector; not on-top of the foil, but between the foil and the board. I had to do this twice before it worked. Slip back the clamp and test and hopefully the connection between the board and the foil should work.

Yes that’s where I cleaned it before with no luck. I might go back and try again, although now I have pulled the guts out of the TV so I don’t really need it at this point.

Thank you you for your help and advise!
