If I buy a Beovision 5 to replace my Beovision 3, will the relatively new STB-C chip that I fitted in the BV3 transfer across to the BV5 - ie. are the STB-C modules the same?
I think the answer is 'yes' - can anyone confirm?
It will - probably - depend on the TV's chassis (If your BV3 is the 32 inch version).
Found this:
So, is someone able to confirm?

Many thanks Ralf,
Yes mine's a 3-32 so it looks like it would be OK

I'm also in agreement that the Avant RF 32, BV3 32 and BV5 all shared the same chassis.
The RF 28 and BV3 28 were (I believe) a variant of the BeoVision 1 chassis !!

The chassis is not relevant when it comes to the STB-C chip. You can even transfer the chip to an old MX7000 if there is an STB-controller in it. They are all the same.
So yes, you are good to go!
Be very careful at swapping out the STB controller. I bought a second-life BV5 from a dealer and as part of the deal they agreed to update the controller so I could use a Humax PVR. They ended up having to replace the whole chassis because the STB chip would not be recognised by the TV.
I actually felt quite sorry for the dealer and the technician because they were excellent throughout, but what started as a simple goodwill gesture cost them a good 6 weeks of to-ing & fro-ing and I'd bought it from a dealer 90 miles away! They were determined to solve it and at one stage I listened in on a call to B&O HQ as they had not come across the issue and they were trying all sorts of suggestions while I watched my TV opened and closed up time after time.
In the end it was all to do with the TV serial number and getting the STB chip to recognise it. They tried 3 chips so knew it must be the TV, they tried to re-program the serial number in my chassis and it did not work so a new chassis was installed and the memory cleared and re programmed and it worked.
Not that you will definitely have that problem, but something to think about when changing the chip yourself.

Thanks Stoobie, that's very useful to know.
I am not sure that I want to rush into changing my BV3, it's actually working well and the picture's great. I may wait until it goes wrong and then see what I can afford, maybe replacing it with the same, or perhaps a BV10 if secondhand prices keep going down!
