I realize this has been discussed in different ways before (links below) but one last stab at a solution here…

I've got a BeoSystem 5000 with BeoMaster 5000 and Master Control Panel 5000.  Almost all the time the  MCP 5000 does not work with BeoMaster 5000. (Yes sure, these are models).  It says "No transmission" on MCP.  However about 1% of the time, a key works.  In fact each of the 4 keys I really want to use (vol up, vol down, Tape 2, and 0) work sometimes.  MCP has fresh batteries.

So I how can I diagnose whether MCP or BM is faulty?

I understand replacing capitors is one approach.  On the BM or the MCP?  Is there an online service manual and what's the link to it?  What kind of capacitors would I need to find?

Even better, I'd like to use a Harmony One remote to control the BeoSystem, or even just the 4 keys mentioned above.  However the BeoMaster 5000 profile on Harmony database does not work.   Attempting to "LEARN" from the MCP doesn't work either –  again I just get "No Transmission".

So has anyone created a LEARNED profile for MCP 5000 that could be shared?

Or does anyone have another solution? I'd like to find the Terminal 5000 remote, but: 1) haven't so far, and 2) doesn't have TAPE 2 key [though not crucial].

Thanks.
