My MCP 5000 has started exhibiting the following behavior: when I insert the batteries, it works fine for however many commands, key presses and functions I make in sequence, as long as I do not let the unit go to sleep.  When it does go to sleep I have to take the batteries out and reinsert them to "wake it up": there is no acitivity at all (no lights, notices or response of any kind) until I remove and reset the batteries. The batteries are brand new: the contacts are clean. I assume this is a bad power or power-saving relay of some sort (and that probably I need to get another unit on ebay, alas). Does this seem right?  The unit works fine other than this, which it has just started doing.  Any thoughts would be very much appreciated....

I have one that does the same thing. I put it off to the side and bought a new one. I'd be interested in what you find.
