I just bought a Beosound 1. Lovely condition. Everything works except it won’t respond to a Beo4?

I was also wondering what dB are most people’s speakers set to? It’s extremely light on bass?

Thanks

My Century  sounds so much better. I’m a bit disappointed I guess

It's a total "plug n play" no adjustment to bass/treb etc...

Had one in the kitchen for many years, but for me it just needed (dab)

Beovision 7 40 mk 5 ,beovision 6x3,   beosound 3000, beogram 3300 , 2 x lc2, 2 x beocom 1401, beocom 6000 x 2,  5 x beo4,

, 4 x beolab 4's, form 2, h2, a2,a1 and a beolab 2 😀😀

The beosound 1 first generation sounds lovely, especially compared to a Century, even without bass/treble/loudness adjustement. Yours might have a problem. And it should respond to the Beo4. For information, the green button is moving the aerial up or down, and the yellow is opening/closing the CD flap

I would think that, like most B&O equipment, it could be configured to ignore the Beo4.  Unfortunately, I don't recall the Beo4 sequence or even what this feature is called.  Then again, this might not be the case because that feature is associated with MasterLink which the Bs1 does not have.

As far as sound goes, it was the first B&O product that I bought after searching high and low for the best sounding "office", somewhat portable CD player.  It should sound much better than a Century.  I've since bequeathed it to my son who took it to university, and will soon take it to his first apartment.  Has his computer and record player connected to it, probably doesn't own any CDs...  kids.. Huh?

Everything works except it won’t respond to a Beo4?

Try this.

Turn the BS1 to standby/off.

On the Beo4, press the POWER (red bot) button and LIST together.  Then press LIST until OPTION is shown, press GO (centre button), and then press LIST to show A.OPT.  Then press 1.  The power light on the BS1 may blink to show that it has been accepted.

Now see if it responds to the remote.

It worked!! Thank you so much. I didn't think that the Beosound 1 had that option. I must say I am quite impressed with the all the detail that they put into it like being able to adjust the db of each speaker driver via remote, check error codes etc. Something most owners probably don't know about, explains the cost of the unit originally.

Hello Ben SA,

Can you elaborate a bit more on: like being able to adjust the db of each speaker driver via remote, check error codes etc. Something most owners probably don't know about

Didn't know that either and have not find any info on that in the manuals so far.

I have a BS1 CD in my office at work and it is working like a charm every day since I have it. Getting compliments about it all the time, and always impressive to control the aerial antenna remotely :-)

Hi Ferdinand

It you download the service manual it explains exactly how to do it. It will give you list of all the tests you can do such as test the laser, radio etc, how to change the db on the speakers although the db are supposed to be programmed according to each speaker driver. Apparently there are details at the back of each driver where you can work out the db so that you can match the amplifier to each driver. It can tell you what they are currently set to as well.
