The display on my MCP 5500 has started to flash whenever it is activated by a key or the volume wheel. It communicates correctly this the Beomaster and all functions work with each unit (cord, gram, radio).
I modified the battery storage - wired in an external holder - and I am using rechargeable Li batteries each of which has 4000mAh capacity. The unit worked fine for a couple of months, then this problem manifested itself.
I have checked the batteries and measured the incoming voltage on PCB 12. This is 6.012V as I would expect. I have cleaned out the contacts on the volume wheel and checked that there were no stuck keys. The problem arises even with freshly recharged batteries. I have now reached the limit of my electronics knowledge.
Can anyone please suggest further troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue?
