Hello everyone,
I have a beovision 4 and a beosystem 3. Is it possible to watch a movie from an external hard drive on this system?
All answers are very appreciated!
/Philip
If the BV4 is similar to the BV5, then for viewing any extra STB or hard drive you should be able to temporarily connect to the white/red/yellow camcorder connections to the side of the screen. The TV will automatically recognise this connection and give it priority over its usual settings.
If you want to make a more permanent connection controlled by your Beo4 you will need to use an IR blaster connection and connect via scart or hdmi, having your hard drive selected on or added to the STB-C module or PUC depending on exactly which BV4 model you have and any other STB's or HDRs already connected.

EDIT
I assumed that a TV hard drive recorder was referred to rather than a computer external hard drive.
As far as i know, the Answer is no, not right out of the box. At least is is on my "Old" BS3 setup (BV 7-40 Mk V). There is no way the BS3 can play any file from a USB connected device. (please correct me if i am wrong) I dont know about the new BS3 but dont think so either. You need to add a player to be able to watch your movie on your tv. (WD TV Live or other connected by HDMI).

I know a wesbsite like sockshare where you can watch unlimited movies online for free. You can also some other sites like sockshare for movies online.
Get a Nvidia Shield TV (pro) device, a FLIRC USB dongle and install KODI on the Nvidia shield. You can program the FLIRC with different codes so that it can fit the installed PUC codes of your Beosystem 3. The Shield TV with installed KODI can play nearly everything you feed into it. It supports streaming services like Amazon Prime video and Netflix, too.
