EgonOlsen:LG 48 size OLED. —> Horizon ????
Now that would be a nice update! Or just fit it in a BV14 frame format and squeeze in the internals of the Stage! Instant winner for a lot of people!
Karel.
BeoFrederic:New TV’s with more (or less) B&O integration? Other?
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Stop teasing us!
An OLED BV14 would send me to my B&O store immediately.
But of course, simply wont happen.
Michael:I would be happy if they made webOS skinable and add feature due the blinds that older B&O have. The current webOS is simply childish in design and really, really ugly. I’ve refused to replace my Avant mainly because it’s so bad and not even beautiful to start or turn off. Blinds, fade in/out sound and more discrete and elegant interface is all I hope for :)
New: Beovision Harmony, Beolab 50's, Beolab 28's, Beolab 18's, Beolab 17's, Beosound Stage & LG, Beosound 2, Beoplay M3, Beoplay A1, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay H4 gen 2, Beoplay E8 3.0

Mikipidia:Do you mean the eclipse one or the harmony one? The Harmony looks a lot more sleek and way less childish, if not modern now. New: Beovision Harmony, Beolab 50's, Beolab 18's, Beolab 17's, Beosound 9000 mk3, Beosound 1 Bronze edition, Beoplay M3, Beoplay A1. There is a tv - and there is a BV
Mikipidia:Yes, the old lg menu on my eclipse looked kinda childish and way too colourful. The lg menu on my harmony is a lot smaller and way less in your face. It looks modern and is kinda sleek. A lot more grey scales and less gloss so to say. (I don’t have pics of the menu of the eclipse any more) New: Beovision Harmony, Beolab 50's, Beolab 18's, Beolab 17's, Beosound 9000 mk3, Beosound 1 Bronze edition, Beoplay M3, Beoplay A1. With regard to the digital curtain when on/off on the LG Screens...
From what I heard.. It was requested but it would take LG too much resources (man hours & implementation) to add it to the screens.
Anyway... let's see what 2020 brings...
As I'm sure you know, there is zero chance of any of this happening.
B&O have almost no involvement in the TV side anymore - the recent BV's have, as you know, been LG TV's through and though, bolted on to a B&O sound solution. Thats the way it will remain.
The Avant, BV11/12 group of products were from a different era, one where the smart part of the TV was secondary, and they got away with the poor smart / app section. In this era the smart / app part is much more important and therefore prominent. hat B&O have done with LG is the best way for them to offer a modern App Store / choice under a B&O umbrella.
There is no going back, sad though that may be.
On a separate note, can anyone remember why its only the LG C series that works with the B&O app?
The newly announced Gallery series (replacing the G series I think) is pretty much the wallpaper without the connection box, and flush fitting to the wall.
Its what I've always wanted, form factor wise at least - wondering if the B&O app will one day work with more than just the C series.
Sandyb: On a separate note, can anyone remember why its only the LG C series that works with the B&O app?
Thanks, that sort of what I thought.
Back when the Harmony was announced, my dealer explained that the B&O app would work on a variety of models.
Mikipidia: Sandyb: On a separate note, can anyone remember why its only the LG C series that works with the B&O app? I am unsure that’s accurate actually. What i remember mostly was the internal soc had to be able to handle it and that was c9 and up. So not b9 as that is still the c8 soc. all i can think of for the harmony is spacing and bracket to make it fit flush. But iam going to my dealer later, so i’ll ask again and get back to you.

That said, I only wall mount, and I'm not putting a C9 / new CX on the wall - it sticks out too much, and the gap will drive me crazy.
I've been waiting for a Wallpaper version without the connection box / speaker, and the new G / Gallery series does exactly that.
Hence me checking whether the G series has / Gallery series will be operable with the B&O remote.
No hurry, but thats the way I'm likely to go, and as such pretty happy with the LG announcements yesterday.
Mikipidia:To the best of our combined knowledge it’s soc and webOs variant related. Not specifically c segment, as c segment and up have the same webOs and soc or better. But if you think about it it makes no sense to buy anything above a c segment panel as the only thing that changes is “better” sound from lg.

Michael:My answer was lost. As this iOS app always seems a bit buggy I’m not surprised either. Anyway I think B&O should and could cooperate deeper with LG. We are used to and B&O should require implementation of the blinds and the interface design customization. The last tv having a genuine B&O style in software was pre Android. The NG(Android) models kept the design but lost the typography as they went from BeoFont to a standard Android system font. On the Lg it’s even worse and they use many different fonts, sizes and colors and in strange ways around the screen. I’m actually surprised B&O customers accept the poor integration and customization of the software. Especially on the harmony where a smooth and beautiful show of craftsmanship and high quality materials do a dance the tv simply just starts up as a regular Lg monitor. Sure it will take some hours to implement but B&O would have done it otherwise too so they should just pay LG to solve it. I’m sure it can be done. Come to think of it I think Sony has electronic blinds on some of their quite recent models as well. Keeping a brand identity is key and for the customer experience it is a necessity but apparently B&O does not care. In that case WebOS isn’t optimal since they could have gone with something they apparently can adapt like the android operating system they used before (even though it was very badly done).

I never see the UI on the Eclipse,
Mine starts up on Apple TV, so never use guide, record option and so on.
So I feel no difference except the curtains, which I have never missed.
The AVANT was much better then BV7 and the Eclipse is much better then the AVANT.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence

Re-opening this thread because: a) it got a bit off-topic and b) there's been enough time elapsed for a better likelihood that someone knows an answer firsthand.
We know that B&O has a level of integration with LG C9 panels (e.g BS Stage > BROne). The integration occurs because magic happens in the C9 ROMs, I imagine.
Now that the C9s are being replaced with CX9, the question: does the CX have the relevant code in its ROM? Is this same level of B&O integration still present in the new model? Is there perhaps *more* integration in the new model? Are there other new models (e.g. GX) that also integrate with B&O?

This might explain why the Eclipse 2 is potentially delayed/still in production. ie. that ROM integration would be essential for future Eclipse v2 C9/CX9 support.
I doubt there is any B&O compatible ROM" inside the LG TVs... The integration comes from HDMI ARC and the B&O app on LG TVs that allows BROne compatibility and some little things.

Sandyb:I'd also love to know why the other series (like the G series) doesn't have the same integration. It's been repeated numerous times that it's only the C series that the relevant app can be downloaded onto, but I don't see why? I understand why the B series doesn't work, but the G series has exactly the same chips et as the C.

You could ask that question in the comments on the John/Manchester podcast tomorrow?

I doubt it's a ROM, just software embedded within the existing ROM that enables some B&O connectivity such as the BeoRemote etc.
