Odd Beocenter 2 behavior

I have a US model, 2817, with software 1.3. It is the version that requires the GO button to be pushed twice to select a menu option and start playback. I can find know way using the aluminum keypad to pause playback. The other odd behavior is that the DVD command is not recognized from my Beo4, but it will start and stop playback if I press CD on the Beo4. 

Does anyone know what is going, or how to pause the DVD from the keypad?
