Hi I am running a moment a set of 18s and two M5s as part of a multi room set up works good lovely rich sound and I’m please with all of it particular impressed with the M5s I’ve read they were too bassy in the beginning but I’m impressed with the sound of them. Anyway how do I get my essence remote to sync with all the moment and the two M5s I’ve gone into the setting in the B and O app and followed the instructions but nothing is happening when I press the top button of the essence for 10s the remote works fine and all the software is up to date any help is appreciated thanks

Short answer is: you don’t!

in order to control the Moment a Essence Remote has to be in ir-mode....not in bt.

I guess you - ‘to sync with all’ - mean control the volume?

In general you can not use one remote to control multiple devices at one time.

You will have to use the Bang & Olufsen app, where you have access to all units in one user interface.

P.S. As you have already noticed, a long press on the Essence Remote turns all devices off.

Thanks for the answer so I understand cannot use the Essence remote for all then of them synchronised but  if I turn down the moment then the m5 stays at the same volume is there a workaround as I thought the moment was the controlling unit and the outputs would follow suit.

There is no workaround!

Even if they all play the same (which might have started with what the Moment plays = they have joined the Moment) they are all individual devices.

As I wrote, you can control the volume of all devices in one user interface/the B&O app, but I would not call that ‘a workaround’

In the case that you describe, the Moment is controlling the content (= what is played), but not the volume of all linked devices.

There is, but it is quite an expenise one and requires some programming. BLGW or BeoLiving Intelligence can do this via the Master volume function:

Master volume adjust and Master volume level enable controlling the volume of several products at once via Multiroom. The command is sent to a product and all the other products which are streaming from the same master change their volume the same way. Use Master volume adjust for relative control (step up or step down or mute) and Master volume level for absolute control. https://khimo.github.io/help_drivers/BeoLink/

The latest (MK 2 ?) variant of the Essence remote has a new mode where it sends Bluetooth- AND Infrared comands.

Maybe an owner of the new variant can check if the Essence remote sends out volume command via Bluetooth and infrared simoultanesly, too?

Of course and of course I knew that.

It just did not seem to be a solution, that could fit into the needs of the OP.

Fair enough! It just seems that for a lot of more "advanced" use cases, B&O have an alternative that is undermarketed and underappreciated by much of the B&O world. Fix pricing and marketing, and demand would rise exponentially.
