Hi,I have been seeing a number of B&O MMC20CL cartridges, many of them in boxes with calibration sheet and FR graphs that have handwritten single and double-digit numbers instead of the usual five-digit number on a purple sticker. I have seen the same on MMC20ENs, indeed I have one (sourced from Canada) that has no sticker on the back of the cartridge and a handwritten two-digit number on the calibration sheet. I can't see a spot where the sticker could have been on either the cartridge or the calibration sheet. I would have expected some trace of damage to the calibration sheet where a sticker had been peeled off but there is none. The whole thing is a bit of a mystery to me. Does anyone know what is going on? I have, in the past, viewed such cartridges with great suspicion and avoided buying them.
The MMC20EN was just an extra that came with a B&O 4002 and MMC20CL (normal serial numbers) and I didn't take much notice of it until recently when another MMC20EN I have was damaged (broken suspension). The MMC20EN came in the standard 20EN box with the standard thin plastic slip cover that had a little (non-standard) sticker with a different two-digit number written on it. The box has a sticker on it with aiguile neuve (new needle - okay, it came from French Canada) written on it. Are these cartridges all part of some collection that has been broken up, or a service agent, or dealer? Are they to be trusted as much as any other used B&O cartridge? Should I run the proverbial country mile from them?Kind Regards,Bob
Oh yes, I am in Australia
