I am switching to Beolab 5 and already tried to part with the rest of my "collection" and focus more on quality over quantity.
My aim is to simply have a pair of 5s connected via coaxial SPDIF to some kind of network player. Any "commercial" solution be it yamaha or naim is plump, big and overkill. I only need spotify/tidal/qobuz and maybe (not even necessarily) something like 20 GB of space of local storage for my digitalised CDs - most of them are available on streaming sites as well.
I really have a hard time finding the right product, so i stumbled upon the hifiberry. A Microcomputer with an additional "hifi" card. It is around 130€ and since it runs on a normal Operating System, it is infinitly more flexible than the network players you can buy from common brands.
Since the whole signal chain is digital, there should not be an impact on the sound quality, should it?
I am very interested in your opinions, ideas or criticism!

Edit: I might add, that I am comfortable with fiddling around with the OS and installing stuff. So the "comfort" factor of a finished product isn´t really an advantage...
As I am more than happy with my Lyngdorf TDAI 2170 with the Beolab 5, especially the room correction feature, I would suggest you to give a try to the new TDAI-1120 (https://lyngdorf.com//lyngdorf-tdai-1120/) which seems to give you all the functionalities you are looking for, and even more with the Room Perfect.
