Hello,

Can you still obtain a system module for a beovision 8-26 please?

I believe this module will add the Masterlink capability.

Thanks in advance

Hi Opman,

Thank you for your great response.

On a whim, I rang one of the authorized B&O repairers here in Australia asking if they could get one. I figured it was a very outside cance but you never know.

Well they were able to somehow source one for $400 AUD, but they said the 8-26 power supply needed a modification to get it to work ( I'm guessing the power supply might need to be beefed up ?) .

So all up I'd need to hand over $500 AUD ( I'm guessing ) to get an 8-26 operational on masterlink.

Hmmm......wondering if its worth the cost ( tv alone was over 1200 AUD ) .....

It was only to be a tv for our child and a computer monitor for me.....not sure if the cost is worth it.

Cheers

This is a dilemma I faced earlier this year - but in a different form - to get a second BV8 with its ML capabilities or wait for what became the V1 or finally the BV11 and use some other technique (e.g. playmaker or ATV or new B&O converter) to bind the various systems together

In my case I decided that the binding / integration was sufficiently important to pay the price

You need to make this decision ... ML access will give you what: N-MUSIC ? N-RADIO ? or ther reverse, CD, RADIO, etc on your BV ?

What is that worth to you ?

Can you get equivalent functionality / access through buying an Apple TV ? a B&O Playmaker ? or even this new B&O converter ?

It all depends on your current set-up, what your immediate needs are, where your electronic media are stored (and how), and what your medium and long term plans are ....

Always happy to provide advice, but with B&O there are rarely single, point solutions ... and given the level of expenditures we are talking about, it is worthwhile having a discussion about medium and long term needs (and wants!)

Hi all. After a long time of wanting to masterlink everything together in my home setup I finally got a reel of masterlink cable and a reel of aerial cable and went to work. After approx 12 hours work split over two days I got the job done.

 My setup consists of:-

Bed1- beovision 6-26 / beotime / beo4x2 / beo5

Bed2- beovision 7-32 / beo 4

Office-  beolab 3500 / beo5

Lounge- beosound 9000 / beolab 8000 / beo4 / beo5

Kitchen - beovision7-32 with beolab 3500 (instead of 7.1) beo4 / beo5

Conservatory - beovision 7-32 / beo 4

I must have used at least 50m of masterlink and at least the same in aerial cable. A lot of work and time but now it's all done I must say I am so happy

. I now can listen to my 9000 in all the rooms listed above. I find myself just turning it on in everyroom and walking or dancing around from room to room. I most like the fact I can set my beotime which will start playing my 9000 on my bv6 in my bedroom.

I use the bv7 in the kitchen as the video master so everything goes through that allowing me to watch DVDs from the kitchen tv on any other tv. It also allows me to plug my CCTV into the kitchen tv then watch on every tv in the house.

I do plan to link my mac in the office to the system using a pc2uk so then I can acces n music in everyroom. I also plan on linkin a apple tv to each bv7 for streaming from the iPad etc. this will also give me full aces to my I tunes. So you may ask why use n music? Well I will be using n music so that I can just use beo4/5 to accesiTunes  without having to have the iPad at hand.

So like elephant says its all down to each person preferences and needs. I like to be able to listen to the same music in everyroom. I also need to be able to see my CCTV in everyroom. These two reasons were my main reasons. Also the bv6 doesn't have built in DVD so I can now watch DVDs on it from the vid master.

I also have beolab2000 in the garage which I plan to modify like stoobie has so that it's on a handle with a wireless 1 so it's a portable wireless speaker which can be used in the garden. Hope that helps

Martin that is a great description of your setup and the benefits of ML.

I have some questions just out of technical interest:

  1. did you use the B&O radio frequency amplifier in your setup ?
  • I have in mine, it is attached to the master BV and broadcasts the free to air signals (both old and new), and the foxtel analogue signal
  • at the other end I split the aerial cable to the two inputs (analogue and digital) on the slave BV
  • I use one of the outbound ports to go to my EyeTV dongle on my MacMini so I can perform video recording, and also get FM radio stations
  • however this amplifier does not have enough outbound ports for your number of BVs hence my interest in how you wired it all up
  1. 2012martin:
    using a pc2uk
  • what is that ? (or is it a typo Smile)
  1. which program will you run on the Mac to distribute the N-Music ?
  • BM-Link ? LinkPlayer ? or the LinkPlayer 2 Beta
  1. 2012martin:
bv6 doesn't have built in DVD so I can now watch DVDs on it from the vid master
  • How are you distributing the digital video signal ?
  • Are you using a DVD SCART connector ?
  • Or is this a capability of the BV7 (I seem to recall that we all wanted it, and at some point B&O did bring it out, but I don't know if it is only on BV7s) ?
  • If so will you be able to be able to distribute BluRay materials ?

Did you see my post where I used the Beolink Wireless to extend my Master Link to a BV to that I did not have to run a cable to a remote room - just the aerial cable - works beautifully, all thanks to a tip I saw from Vienna !

Hi elephant I will try and explain what you have asked although its getting on and I've been up listening to the new live lounge album having a few drinks. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

1st yes I did you the rf link amplifier.

It has 4tv out puts and one for the aerial plus one for the tv return so six in total

1 is for the main aerial leaving 5 one of which goes to the master tv leaving 4 and one returns fro the master leaving 3. Which I use for my 3 other tvs.

At the moment I only use the freeview built into the bv7 master as link dtv I chose this one as its the only one with built in freeview meaning I've got rid of 3 freeview boxes plus power leads, scart lead and ir blaster from behind the other tvs) I also have my CCTV plugged into the bv7 master and distribute as link dtv2.

I watch the DVD player from on the bv7 master on other tvs by pressing link DVD. It is not blue ray and as far as I am aware it will not distribute hd.

When I said pc2 uk  think its actually called beolink pc2 and as for software I really haven't looked into it that far its just be got the beolink pc thing and two wireless 1 which I haven't used yet.

Do you know of any ways to distribute hd? Do you have a link for the post you mentio I don't think I saw that one.

Hope that helps. If there's anything else just let me know I'm o here all the time

Cheers

Thanks for taking time out to answer -- I trust you had a very mellow evening Smile

Thanks for all the answers - everything nicely tied up and no loose ends !

I have a BeoPort / Beolink PC2 too - I initially had it connected to a Windows system using BeoPlayer s/w from B&O; then I moved to Apple and used BM-Link, and the I worked with Philippe (PHIL LONDON, as did others) to get LinkPlayer working so we had more than just N-Music/N-Radio, and now we are hoping that Philippe will eventually finnish the Beta code of LinkPlayer 2.

I can't remember precisely when there was a discussion about digital signals being translated into analogue by the BV ... it was several years ago ... may 2008 ? 2009 ?
