Hi can I connect a B&O core to a 3500 speaker directly to convert it to a apart speaker?

I’m waiting for a cable to arrive to try this scenario.

Apparently it’s a fully wired Powerlink to RJ45 (B&O part no 6271225 5 metres or 6271226 10 metres)

Steve from Sounds Heavenly doesn’t have them in stock at the moment so you might need to try B&O.

I noticed in the Core speaker type settings that there is an option for the BL3500.

Will be good if it works

Hi

Many thanks to both contributors.

It saves a fortune over buying another Beosound 35.....good as it is.

Are second hand cores available? eBay doesn't seem to offer any / many which seems strange

Thank you Andrew

If you don’t already have the Core, a ssecond hand Essence MK2 will do the job - for less money and easier to find.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Sometimes Cores show up on eBay but they sell pretty quickly from what I can tell and are priced close to what you would pay for one that is new. Having used one for a while, I can see why. They are a high quality and reasonably priced way to turn any powered B&O speaker into a flexible and modern multi-room system. To me it made a big difference to my BL11/BL 6000 combo.

I also have the Essence Remote with it, but don't use it since it's easier to just use the app.

If the Essence is similar to the Core and cheaper, then that would be a good option as well.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

I would go for the Core if possible.

I have an Essence and the software was recently ‘upgraded’ and caused some issues with Spotify Connect. Still waiting for it to be resolved although there is no timeframe.
