Delar all,

I have a pair of beolab 1's connected to a sonos zp 90 which is simply connected to the speakers with the the regular RCA/ line in connection. It works fine and the speakers turns on automatically when music is on and turns off afterwards with a three minute time off.

Now, I like to connect a beolab 2 to the system, not that the beolab 1's needs it in regular use, but my living room is quiet large and I need some more "power" some times at parties, etc.

Problem is that beolab 2 only have powerlink input...according to the beolab 2 manual the beolab 1's should be connected to the beolab 2 with power links, that is ok, but how do I connect the beolab 2 to the sonos zp90?

I want of course the system to turn of when it is no music. Is there a special cable, etc that can solve my problem? Could the beolab 2 be connected as a 'line in' as well, I.e. one would simply connect the beolab 1's and the 2 in parallel?

hope you guys can help me,

best regards,

Peter

Hi Stinsen, this is easily done with a Line (phono) to PowerLink cable - available from a number of sources including Sound Heavenly who are much loved on this forum :)

You are correct that this cable would go from the Zp90 to the BeoLab 2, and the BeoLab 2 would connect to each BeoLab 1.

Be prepared for a whole dimension of sound from you BeoLab 1's once the bass is taken away from them - the sound improvement will be amazing! 😉

Make sure you get a stereo line cable to single powerlink - the powerlink connection carries both the left and the right audio signal.

MartinW,

thanks for your quick answer.

does this mean that the automatic turn on /turn off will work as well on both the bl 1's and bl 2?

regards,

Peter

Ah, sorry - MAJOR windback! The BeoLab 2 has no line input. Years ago i had BL3's and BL2 connected to my PC - i made an audio cable to pass the left and right audio from the PC to the BeoLab 2 but i had to also create a switch from a power supply (5volts or something) to tell the BeoLab 2 to switch on and off. I am sure Steve at Sounds Heavenly will have a more elegant solution by now though.

Hi Stinsen,

I don't know if your problem is solved already !?

You can use this box as a Powerlink converter, it's called Powerlink-Switch.

Connect your Sonos to the input 2 of the box

Connect the Beolab 2 to the output of the box.

And connect the two Beolab 1 to your Beolab 2.

This will work very well.

I have an almando Multiplay at home, it's almost the same (only with an additional SPDIF input).

bye ...
