Am I goin' crazy..?
After I have recorded about 30 tapes or so, I found out that my Beocord 3300 had recorded them low on one channel. That sucks;-)
I tried my 4500 on another Beomaster...same result, though less difference between channels. I bought a 5000 so that I could monitor L and R levels on a third Beomaster, but the problem still occur.
When using the Beocord 5000 I can see that both levels are equal when recording, but when I hit Play then left channel is weak!! I have 3 different setups and all do the same. The Beocord 5000 had been serviced by its previous owner. How is this possible? I tried asking in a Danish B&O forum, but no real response other than it sounded weird. I'm no Technician, but have recorded tapes on other Cassette decks without problems.
When recording I use my MacBook with a MiniJack to DIN cable (tried several) connected to the Beomaster and the sound is perfect with equal balance on both speakers when playing. All the Beocord's plays fine with pre-recorded tapes, but when I hit record....I'm loosing my mind;-)
What brand/type of tape are you using for recording? And are they new or old tapes?
I ask this because older tapes, if failing because of age or inadequate storing (high or low temps), tend to lose the left channel first. That's because the left channel is the channel nearest to the edge of the tape.

Hi...it is new tapes, but I've tried old tapes too...
It's Type 1 bought from TapeMUZIK in Germany, but also new Maxell UR and others...same results with them all. It's getting a bit frustrating;-) When I record on an old Sony, Pioneer...etc. there is no problems, but they just can't beat a Beocord...
I think the problem perhaps lies in the Line Out from the Mac...not sure yet. There was nothing when connected to the Beomaster, but just now my Wireless Headphones ran out of battery, so I had to connect a jack cable and the sound is only on the left side. I will have to try recording from another device to confirm this...but it's a possibility...
