Hi all - newbie here, so please be gentle!

I am trying to renovate a Beosystem that I have pulled out of the attic - it is a Beomaster 5000 and a Beogram 5005.  The turntable appears to be working fine, however the Beomaster seems to be having some issues.

When I power up the unit there is a single red dot on the display.  When I select any option, there is a brief flurry of relays clicking - if I select phono the turntable starts and then stops, and if I select the tuner, the display brioefly shows the frequency and then powers down.

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

Common problem due to old age - just do a keyword search - e.g. here

I've got one in working condition that I'd sell in US; if int, PM me..

Thanks so much for these - I had searched the forum and not found anything relevant somehow.  However, I am not sure all ot these are similar syptoms - I am not getting any signal from the amp - it powers donw immediately - this might just be a more rapid case of what these guys are reporting!

Whilst I won a soldering iron and a multimeter, I am wary of meddling with electronics.  Is it worth reparing - or selling on eBay for spares are repair?  Unfortunately I am in the UK, so I cannot take your offer up.  BTW - what is the going price for a beomaster unit?

Thanks,

Jon

Could be a problem with DC on a speaker output, or a problem with the safety circuit itself.
