Hi! I'm for the first time here in this great forum! In shortly a friend of mine, who knows I'm in love with classic stereo gears, gave his old B&O turntable. The machine was very dusted and my friend said he didn't use it at all last 15 years... It is equipped with MMC20EN cartridge and no broken stylus!! So back home with my new babe and gave it good clean. Installed new belt. Start it. The turn table start without vinyl record on it and the ton arm lend(I held it) just for 12" size record. The same is happens when I put a 12" record. When I installed a 7" record the machine sized it but didn't change the speed - it was playing on 33, never changed to 45. So I opened the bottom cover and took a good look on mechanical relays. The S1 switch never changed the position doesn't matter which speed is selected. With my tiny pliers Very gentle bent the contact and the speed start with 45. So this problem is fixed. So now I have Beogram 2400 with MMC20EN cartridge.
1. The turntable play with correct size and speed
2. Problems: Machine start without vinyl record installed
3.One of the channel(left one) disappear(obviously the cart become bad?)
I would to ask for help and advise: I couldn't explain my self why the Center adapter doesn't acting correctly, actually I couldn't see any connection between this adapter and any of the relays( I downloaded the Owner Manual). Next question is - is it possible the stylus of the MMC20EN cartridge to be replaced, because there are few cartridges for sale with broken needle?
Thanks in advance for any help, advice or idea!
Look at section 4-3 in the service manual regarding detection of 7" records. Adjustments can be made with screw A.
Hi, Filip_kbh! Thank you for the answer, but my Beo do the correct detection of the size and speed. The problem is that it is start without any vinyl record installed on the platter. Also I'M wondering is it possible to replace just the stylus of the MMC20EN cartridge, because one of the channels is missing.
Thanks for any answer, help or advice!
