There is a hum from my Beomaster. It's there even if I turn the speakers off, so it's mechanical vibrations from the mains transformer. It's not very loud but it's noticeable between songs.
Is there enything that can be done to reduce the hum?
It's a production problem in some transformer series.The only cure is to replace the transformer with one that doesn't hum.

Thanks Martin. I have another 3000-2. I'll check if that hums.
I powered up my other BM 3000-2. It didn't hum. So I guess it's transformer transplantation time.
The transformer is now replaced with the one from the donor unit. No hum anymore. With the old transformer, there was a sound like moving cardboard boxes for a couple of seconds after startup. This also disappeared. With the "new" transformer, the voltage to the power amplifier is a couple of volts higher.
I get the impression that the sound is slightly clearer and more punchy but that could be my imagination.
It was quite a bit of work to replace the transformer but it was well worth the effort.
