I currently have a BeoLab 11 subwoofer with my BeoLab 3 speakers. Any advantage to changing to the BeoLab 2? I am only using the system for music, not with a tv. Thanks

Hello, simple answer: no. The Beolab 11 is perfect with 3s. I am actually looking for another one to replace my 2 with. Cheers, Kai

Chris Townsend:The Beolab 2 is hilarious for action movies, and will quite literally bring your house down. But it’s like a drunken dad at a wedding for music. Again fun, but timing and finesse aren’t really it’s forte.
I totally disagree with that. In my setups/rooms (I insist on that because I think room response is a key factor in any setup, especially for bass), I actually use now a BL2 for Music only (with BL3) in my office, and a BL19 replaced the BL2 in my bedroom for movies (connected to a BV11-55 with a pair of BL8002). Initially I bought the BL19 thinking the same that what you are writing, after reading the forums, so I tried the opposite (BL3+BL19 and BL2/BL8002 on the BV11), after triggering everything in all possible settings, never succeeding to reach out the WOW factor until I reverse both subs.
I bought Cambridge Minx X201.
Compact sub using same principal as BL3. One 6.5" woofer and two slaves.
I went for black. No speaker cover. Paintet the Cambridge text black. Looks great with BL3.
And in contrary to the BL's you can tune volume and frequency as you prefer.
Minx 201 is ok...i have one setup with mirage mm6 and niles 6,5 and it is much better but more expencive. And yes..on all you have options for tune it as you wish.
Hahaha! I am in full agreement with this statement.
The Beolab 2 is house-demolishing awesome for movies, but I wouldn’t use it for music listening; it’s just too much.
I generally prefer to stick with 2.0 setups for music listening though, but I did at one point consider getting the 18’s along with a 19. Still not sure if I’ll eventually commit to that, since I never really managed to resolve my whole internal “18+19 vs 20” conundrum. I do hate how the 20’s now have that illuminated logo though, they were so much better looking with the illuminated ring (ala 9’s).

Did you try to make some bass adjustments on Bsys3 with your Beolab2 ? I am using it for music and movies, sounds excellent to my ears...

I have both BL 11 and BL 2 in my set up and there is just no comparison. I have also owned a variety of other subs. The BL 2 is totally in another category when it comes to performance compared to the BL 11. The BL 2 is one of my favorite subs out there from any brand - I even prefer it to the BL 19.
I know some mentioned the Cambridge Audio Minx X201. Interestingly, I have post here somewhere where I replaced my BL 11 at one point with a single Minx 201 and once I had adjusted the settings the tiny Minx X201 outperformed the BL 11. If you get two Minx X201s, remove the grills and connect them together (the Minx has an audio out connection to link multiple subs) you end up with an aesthetic that would work well with your BL 3 and you'd get performance that would blow away the BL 11 - by a long shot. Yes, I have the BL 11 in my set up only because of how great it looks, if I wanted better sound, I'd get any other sub in a heartbeat.
My 2 cents worth. FWIW, I find the combo of BL 2 with either BL 8000/8002 or BL 3 to be a perfect match. They sound amazing to me. BL 2s are quite cheap right now, I have no idea why, but in the US they are 50% cheaper than a BL 11 (I guess form over function has a lot of value)
B&O in my life 😊:

I completely agree. I thought the BL3s sounded great for their size. When I added a BL2 to them, I was amazed at how the BL2 elevated them to an all new level. The improvement that a BL11 adds is very subtle.
I like my BL3 and BL2 combo a lot. However, I have them run from a Beosystem3 so the extra sound control could be a factor vs just running them through the crossover in the BL2 or a system with less control.
