Hello,I have a pair of Beolab 4000 via a BeoSound 9000 connected to AUX in my home office. That works well and the sound is really good. I recently bought another pair for use in my work office (not at home that is) and they are connected directly to a USB DAC via the RCA input. This works but much worse. The volume is too high and there is barely any bass. I believe the only solution is to add a BeoSound to get a better, fuller sound output and a way to adjust the volume better via the B&O interface. However, I don't want to spend a few hundred euros on one so maybe there is a better solution? If anyone knows a solution, please let me know. Been looking here in Sweden for a "broken" cd beosound that I can buy cheap but can't find any right now. Maybe better to just get other speakers?
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
You could use an MCL2AV in a stand alone configuration. It would need to be powered (15v PSU) and you'd need an MCL sensor also. You could then connect your computer to one of its front sockets, and the BL4000s to the powerlink output.
Two other thoughts:
- Buy a second-hand Playmaker and use the Aux in socket. Advantage is full B&O remote control (and local volume control using the wheel) and adds airplay (if you need it). Should also 'auto sense' the computer's audio output. This would be far neater than the MCL2AV solution.
- If happy to use an app (rather than a B&O remote) you could use one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smart-Receiver-Streamer-Bluetooth-Internet/dp/B077T8G8V7
(I think Sounds Heavenly used to sell the latter, but can't now see them on Steve's site)
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

I’d support that idea - the Playmaker is still a useable small device....and quite cheap nowadays.
If you hardwire it, you could also airplay to it, if you need that.
You can control the volume there too, - but better use a Beo4.
(Best set the volume out on the computer to approx 70-80%, then).
